We use it in production. Much of our traffic comes in to us on it. We dual stack, though, as we know we won’t be able to access all external resources we need over it. If you are expecting everything else to work over v6 before you deploy

FTX, or Coinbase or any of them, are not regulated. Not as exchanges, not as brokerages, or anything else resembling their supposed business model. They’re registered business but that’s about it.

Yep. One can argue whether or not the whole point of creating it was to enable such schemes, but they certainly are an inevitable result.

“Lossy” is not the word. Reliable/unreliable are the words. Packets can and do get dropped, TCP, UDP or otherwise. It’s just a question of how the protocol behaves when that happens.

Hmm I didn’t really read about it. The proposal here is to replace IP as well as TCP? Good luck pulling that off.

“Elephant” flows are a definitely a thing. It all depends on the application and overall use in of the network. With sufficient flows and a mix of sizes it’ll still tend to even out. But if you’ve significant high-throughout, long lived fl

The congestion control algorithms have been significantly improved since then. But yes it’s a testament to how good the original design is that it’s still what we use today. Protocols like SCTP and QUIC work similarly but can avoid head-of

It’s literally the dumbest idea ever. Why use a merkle tree if you need to give users the ability to remove stuff? Just store it in some other struct and have each message signed by the user. Let them add and remove messages at will.

Is this a typo then? This is to be used in adversarial situations in which a user's signingKey leaks or is being held by some custodian who turns out to be a bad actor. In a situation such as this, the signingKey may be used to rota

Just register a new domain and serve it off that instead. If this browser is not maintained then it won’t update what it requests, but everyone else can. Obviously this becomes very whack-a-mole but in this instance it might be an easy win.

Yeah. Racists (thankfully) are a small group, as are Tolkien die-hards. Amazon was probably right not to pitch the show at either group.

The “woke messaging” narrative is just racists mouthing off. Ignore them. The Tolkien fans angry about deviations from books maybe have a point. But not being one I’m really enjoying it, praying it doesn’t go down hill but so far so good.

I actually really liked it. Only a casual LOTR fan. But yeah it’s 5-star from me so far, amazed to see it at 39% on Amazon. People vexed they divert from the books I guess. Understandable but it’s a good show if that’s not your main conce

The question is really what applications require such low latency? AR? Gaming? Perhaps. But most applications are fine with 10-50ms RTT. I think edge compute will happen but it won’t be as ubiquitous as the telcos would like.

It’s 100% not true that all ISPs monitor DNS packets. I’ve worked for several who didn’t. Of course all have the ability to do just that so as a user you can’t tell. If you’re in the EU they can’t sell that data at least.

As with all of these things it’s about confidence. If there is another wobble, and significant redemptions, any hint that they aren’t going to be fulfilled will cause a run. At which point the whole house of cards will fall, if as seems li

I’ve done this myself many times (network engineer). But tbh I see it as something of a “hack”. My gut tells me it’s not the right way for something like OpenVPN to do by default. A metric would be better on 0/0, but I can see how the

Would you know where to cut in your metro to ensure maximum impact to the target? Is that the type of thing they teach in the scouts these days?

Reading between the lines of the previous reports the particular locations chosen to cut seem to suggest some inherent knowledge about major transport networks. In the sense they knew where to go to take down primary and backup paths etc.
