It was already found by Apple and fixed in iPhone XS & 11, so not sure if it would qualify.

Not ever (as in this bootrom exploit is not present in that hardware.)

Yes absolutely. Building reliable hardware support into your alternative OS is the hard bit though.

The entire point of this exploit is to be able to bypass that and load any OS, signed by Apple or not. It should very much allow you to upgrade/downgrade iOS to your hearts content.

The data on the device is encrypted. This allows you to install a different OS on the device, but it won’t be able to decrypt the users data without pin code. You could potentially flash a new firmware which contains a keylogger and sends

Well it won’t come back on in that case (the modified firmware will fail signature check.). But as you say you are still safe, just don’t unlock the device before reboot.

The root DNS servers are distributed widely and operated by different organizations. But it’s a single root, and it is administered by ICANN directly who decide who can be a root name operator. So there is central control there.

While that’s correct that is also just an artificial limit put on it by the Bitcoin core devs, who somehow think it is desirable. Many other coins have the capability to support orders of magnitude more transactions per second and have been

The problem being discussed is replacing cash. Cash does not provide dispute handling, chargebacks or any of those other things either.

Monero is a fairly popular privacy coin too. And while Bitcoin is written to a public ledger, there is a key difference in that you only see “this address sent money to this address.” That’s still fairly public and you might not want that.

Possibly. But under-age drinkers don’t regularly source moonshine. If the legal market is there it’s more likely they’ll find ways to acquire store-bought stuff.

It may be but these keys are ultimately in RAM. If you are root on the local system (as all AV is,) then ultimately you can collect these keys, the only question is how much work you may have to do.

You can run commodity / white box switches in regular old mode, with routing protocols etc. Just because you have a Broadcom chip doesn’t mean you need to use some new-fangled centralized / crontroller based control plane.

There are projects like ONIE that provide a common framework to bootstrap “white box” switches, and there are operating systems like Cumulus that can run on numerous platforms. We’re not there yet but the situation is definitely changing &#

Nobody wants “1 company to control all content.” What we do need is something like the music industry has. Subscribe to Spotify, Deezer, Tidal. They all pretty much have the same stuff, with slight differences in UI and the odd exclusive t

DoT works on port 853, so it’s easy for ISPs to spot/block it. They can’t do the same for HTTPS.

IP fragmentation is different in IPv6 true. MSS is a TCP parameter, however, and operates at layer 4. Won’t matter if the protocol underneath is IPv4 or IPv6 in this case.

What, pray tell, is the “main circuit for a region?” Network bandwidth is still going up and up in speed. 100G was very expensive and hard to do only a few years back, now it’s becoming standard. DWDM systems continue to evolve.
