SEOs (like me) are terrified of Google releasing a proper public Search chat — as people would not really need to visit websites. But the space is incredibly exciting as a user/searcher/average joe.

I see your maths here but Cloudflare hits include any assets, images, and so on so one page views fans out potentially dozens of hits. Cloudflare also includes all bots and non-human hits.

Right, that's scraping results, not from an API that doesn't exist. What exists is Custom Search from Google and that's an API to search results on your own website.

But it's no longer possible to operate that way as they were getting gamed by SEO's. Today may look bad for searchers like us but it could be a lot worse. It's a constant battle.

Openapi, then codegen on both ends — frontend (orval) with TS and react-query, and backend with golang (openapi codegen) for the server's request and response objects. Works a treat.
