Polling clearly indicates that the percentage of Americans who feel financially secure has been steady for years while the percentage who think the economy is in poor shape is increasing rapidly. It is 99% perception. People who are better

I mean, newspapers used to make all their money on classified ads which is why Craigslist has killed so much local news and Craig Newmark is now donating money to save journalism.

It's the same in the US, but the NY Times is probably the most financially successful newspaper in the world at this point. They are not only the #1 news source by reputation, they made a huge push into digital very early and sell subs

Is it accurate to say that any data that can be tokenized can be turned into embeddings?

It's more of an acceptance of reality. Pedestrians in NYC cross however they want and police only ever intervene if they're doing something excessively dangerous (which I believe is still illegal) or if they're looking for a

Curious what you see people are moving to. We migrated to SF from a super legacy piece of shit so it's been a big improvement but it's a beast for a company our size and wicked expensive.

This is the risk of a being a product expert. I've been through a few cycles. Transitioning can be done. You can also seek clients who are looking to migrate away from Demandware.

To me, it really is just an aesthetic thing. What purpose does this actually serve? It's small, but not portable. If it's going under my desk or on a rack never to be moved or looked at, why does it need to be cute?

A box that small can be mounted with double-sided tape or velcro.

You have to be joking. Having blown my nose on many subways, tissue turning black is absolutely baloney. Either you have a truly horrible disease or you're lying. I've raised two kids very successfully in a city with no car.

CoffeeScript immediately revolted me and Civet is giving me the same heebie jeebies. It's the kind of punctuation-as-code that the world rejected 10+ years ago when Perl faded away. Verbose code is better for readability and readabilit

I'm not indicting SpaceX at all. They've very obviously been very successful. My hypothesis is there isn't room or capacity for more competition. They caught lightning in a bottle and it may never happen again. I may be wrong

Honestly this feels like an indictment of privatizing space travel. SpaceX is a perfect storm of a benefactor with unbelievable wealth being able to hoard the best engineers money can buy. And now the advancements they've made are prop
