Mars isn't really a vaccum, but yes, maintaining a vaccum at Mars would definitely be easier than on earth

I am probably wrong with the 4.3 number (compiled the first result from google without double checking). And it won't be 0.2%, the head's speed would be 0.2% of the feet, but since g=v^2/r, the gravity difference would be abo

At half the speed, it would be quarter the gravity. And 2km diameter is huge, it would be easier to make a smaller base camp on a planet where there already is gravity present

1. It is much easier to land on/get into the orbit of a planet. For example, transfer from low earth orbit to Mars requires a delta V of about 4.3 km/s. Now to get into Mars' orbit, this needs to be reduced to about 3 km/

New places to colonize because we are running out of livable land is not the main issue. In case of an extinction level disaster, most land/ocean based humans may be wiped out. Having a "backup" colony on a different planet i

That does make a lot of sense. This reminded me of battle of adrianople, where the roman army was gathered for negotiation purposes and the emperor was not read to attack. But some Roman units began the battle without orders to do so, belie

If is perfectly valid for you to dislike Firefox. But in the context of this post it seems that you assume Chrome is better than FF in terms of disc usage. Do you have any data to back that claim up?

They should hire a good web developer, the security "features" on their one source web app if hilarious.

I have been using the free app "MathPad" on iPhone for a few years now. It does the same thing (A LOT better). But the free version does not allow export to LaTeX, so this open source alternative is more than welcome.

That seems like the current conclusion. But as people start dying, the population should decrease and that will limit global warming. Life as humans knew it has already ended, and civilization as we know it might end, but shouldn't man

But the noise susceptible analog signal does not have to travel a long path, digital signal does. As such the power amplifiers do not have to be as power consuming/over designed. Moreover, you can do other stuff with the headset like t

To use a 3.5mm jack headset you need to add power amplifiers inside the phone, do proper impedance matching and hope that noise in the path does not corrupt the data. But sending power and digital data solves all these problems, the wires d

Basically a traditional radio would multiply a signal with the frequency you want to tune to and give you the resulting signal which is an audio signal. With an SDR, you can record the actual RF signal and then store/multiply whatever

This "clever" security measure would be annihilated in case of a well planned attack targeted against a single individual.
