This is untrue in my experience. I've used FreeBSD a fair bit in the past and Ubuntu and Debian more continuously. Unless something radically changed recently. My experience is about 6-8 years old now but FreeBSD requires a lot more co

+1, for anyone who doesn't stay signed in it's a "go away" signal - which is ironic because those people are more likely to sign in if they are allowed to read more.

Indeed. The only way to accommodate numbers where the difference in order of magnitude exceeds the type's significand length is to not combine them, keep them separate and operate on them separately, combining them only for a sample.

Totally agree. Unix Motif, Windows 3/95/98, Classic MacOS... they were all highly usable. I crave the relentlessly, unashamed, unambiguousness of these old UIs, compared to modern UI which has devolved into something just as prete

I think this is the first time I've seen a simple, approachable article that makes correct use of machine epsilon (specifically treating it as a _ relative _ error)... It's unfortunately very common for people to misguidedly treat

True for so many things, but I don't think that applies here. Many of the npm alternatives are compatible or provide a superset - they have also helped to apply pressure to npm to improve, they are also not competing standards, but mor

Sorry it didn't get traction. Maybe try a repost later. I'm interested in what performance is like for private packages outside of NPM registries, i.e using git+ssh... NPM is almost unusably slow to resolve these, yarn is a factor

I totally get where you're coming from, most employment of CSS animate and transition is excessive and reduces UX. The rule is that you should never have to wait for a UI animation - That said, UI animations done correctly, which are
