Sorry, you are right and I stand corrected. I must have misremembered this. Here is a tweet from PG correcting this: https://x.com/paulg/status/1796107666265108940 via https://news.ycombinator.com/

I agree with the no, but you can make space itself rotate because things in space rotate: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame-dragging And that in turn would rotate things in space... or not?

I would love to play some board games with Sam Altman. He is smart, strategic and very persuasive (I heard). He would excel especially at games like Risk or Mafia, where you have to persuade your opponents to collaborate with you. But afte

Wait, how is this possible?? I tried to visualize a few tens of MB of text in the browser [1] on a canvas and it gets really choppy if I don't optimize it by not showing stuff that can't be read. Impressive that it can handle giga

These results look really useful on a first glance! I will make an account to test this with my own questions after seeing the results (The homepage alone didn't convince me to invest that much time).

True, the topics do not have dates and a timestamp of 0.0 equals January 1st 1970. Interesting that it shows Dec31, 1969 for you. Maybe I could have used the average or first time of all the comments of that topic for the time of that topic

It is really cool and useful. Interesting that you were able to gather enough data from users to make it work. I guess it was much less useful in the beginning? I thought of making something similar with data from https://musicbr

I like it! Maybe you can try datamapplot instead of plotly for a better visualisation. I just did something similar for hacker news comments and stories and wrote my own visualisation around force-graph because plotly and alternatives don&#

The head sizes of babies are actually getting larger over the past decades [1]. This might be because of better nutrition, but maybe it is by a large part because we can do caesarean sections in every hospital now and head size is not as li

Yes, there is also this nice story to illustrate this: Two economists are walking in a forest when they come across a pile of shit. The first economist says to the other “I’ll pay you $100 to eat that pile of shit.” The second economist tak

Since we are discussing wave equations in a computer science-related forum: What is the 'best' algorithm for a discrete 1D (or n-D) wave simulation? With 'best' I mean simple but as realistic and stable as possible. The

A heat pump is much more effective if you only have a small temperature difference [0]. If your house is well insulated and you have underfloor heating, you can heat your house with 40°C (sorry for European units) water to keep it warm insi
