Really interesting idea guys, looking forward to giving it a try. If you're in San Francisco i'd love to hook up and talk remote collaboration :-)

http://www.skinnyo.com - great site, community, profitable, lots of room for expansion but I'm busy elsewhere and no longer have the interest in weightloss I once did.

It's not the same, if you don't sync the folder then you can't easily add to it or view the contents? On mobile you can add and view files in unsynced folders easily - they just download on demand.

You're not the only one, if the Dropbox desktop clients acted more like the mobile clients then it would work well...

This is true, but storage is dropping and don't forget Amazon makes a profit on those prices so the cost is cheaper. It would potentially be a loss leader - generally people still don't take much video compared to photos.

Yep, they almost achieve the same thing - unfortunately its terribly out of date and there is no real API for the page.

Wow, if typing "brb" put you in away mode automatically that could be really neat - great idea! Love that kind of frictionless interface

We're working on a new tool at the minute that helps address some of these problems, by having a persistent visual channel with remote people you can tell if they are really away much more easily, it actually solves a lot of frustrations.
