I work in AdTech and find it hilariously ironic that you're finding the constant and unmitigated discussion of adblockers in an article that discusses the constant and unmitigated flow of malvertising and dark patterns. We built this p

This argument was kind of explored in the movie ex-machina! If these themes strike a chord, I'd suggest you go watch it now!

I think the article is quite aware of that over analysis - and even mentions that a high amount have been found in some studies to not transition in later life. I guess the question is, what are we more willing to risk? Is it worth riskin

A few years ago I was wondering if the ubiquity of the internet would lead to less or more ideological balkanization. I thought, maybe it would let people find other hateful niche people to be aligned with, and would allow them to be congra

I don't think Hydrogen cars will take off. I worked on an industrial site where Hydrogen was decanted from large trucks into smaller cylinders. On the same site we produced Acetylene. The Acetylene reaction is very volatile, and eve

This isn't the "start" of the cause - this cause and problem has been going on for literally years now. Perhaps you are only just becoming aware of this because of this HN thread, but a lot of people have been fighting this

I +1'd your comment, but I think the algorithm hasn't worked in this instance. The fact there would be a flamewar about someones experiences at a tech event says more about the culture of tech than that article about michelin star

Funnily enough, that seems to be a common reason to suppress discussion of many issues of rights and fairness, whether its been about same-sex marriage or sufferage. And people get called jerks in those discussions, too.

This article just plunged down the front page. Calling out the jerks that think this isn't relevant tech material. Bullshit. Tech culture is frequently mentioned. Articles about work-life balance don't get downmodded this much.

This is so stupid. This is as much a bomb as a disassembled alarm clock is. Everyone involved should be fired, from the school through the police department. Words cannot describe how terrible this situation is.
