Would be nice if they did support that, but on a LAN you can always encrypt at layer 3 with WireGuard.

There's an open source project which is a syslog daemon that stores logs in DuckDB. You can configure journald to forward logs to it. https://github.com/phare/sloggo

Here in the US, on the regular retail side of Amazon, I see a twelve pack of 3.75oz canned sardines in water, Beach Cliff brand, for $18.96, or $0.42/oz. I don't buy sardines but this seems not terribly out of line with prices I

Shelf-stable foodstuffs like canned sardines can be ordered for delivery from the regular Amazon, the same side of their site you might order a book or a laptop from, outside of their newer grocery retail channels.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but it's not necessarily a terminal feature per se. Have you tried setting `vi` mode in your shell? There is a bit of lag going into normal mode in ghostty; maybe ghostty is configured by default

Might their professionals market segment (designers, video editors, 3d artists, and so on) still be using thunderbolt and LAN storage? This was the case ~7 years ago when I worked adjacent to these sorts of users. Video files are huge and e

pydantic-settings is not limited to loading from config files. It is easy to populate a settings model from environment variables, for example. With a little bit of glue code it could load from the secretspec sdk.

There is actually quite a lot of variation from person to person in caffeine elimination half-life, from about 1.5-9 hours. Some of my extended family could drink a cup of coffee right before bed without issue. https://www.ncbi.n

Drip coffee has ~40-50% more caffeine per 8oz serving than Red Bull (about 90-100mg vs 65mg). The nice thing about coffee is that the mouth-puckering tannins make it harder to absolutely pound them, like one can do easily with cans of Red B

It grinds my gears a bit when "works 9-5 in an office" is equated with "gainfully employed". There are lots of working people who have free time during these hours: restaurant and retail workers, hospital nurses and doct

Yes, and curiously many of the tellings of this story don't account for the costs of the human software engineers (Jarred and the other bun team members) who guided all of this work.

You're both right: the essay does not really contain ad hominem fallacies, but the essay itself is surely an ad hominem attack, on Jarred as a person. No judgment here, I don't know Jarred or Andrew at all, but like other comment
