I really enjoyed An Elegant Puzzle (the book by the author, this article is there). The greatest thing about it is that it is opinionated. For example, it gives you the optimal number of developers in a team. You can disagree with it, but a

At first I agreed with you, but then I thought about the variation with 100 doors (this is what originally helped me grasp the correct answer): you choose a door out of 100 (with very slim chance of choosing the correct one), the host opens

You are not enumerating the options correctly. You have 3 rows for the GGC and GCG options but 4 for the CGG option, which is assigning the CGG option higher probability. In reality, they have equal weight.

Same here. I had a monthly billing of a few dollars and couldn't figure out where it's coming from (and given that it's only a few dollars, it wouldn't make sense to spend many hours investigating). In the end I just can

Talented people will also have higher standards (want large compensation package, or interesting work, or something else), and figuring out whether a job opening is up to that standard takes time. The result is that even for developers in h

Do you really need SSDs to store video? If you build a surveillance system, it would probably be cheaper with HDDs.

It's a good 10-minute story, but it was needlessly stretched to 30. It was so long and repetitive that he didn't even have enough stock footage to fill everything and had to repeat each shot 3+ times.

The C4 Model looks pretty good, it's like a very simplified UML. The main selling point for me is that it's very intuitive to understand without knowing anything about it in advance. However, I don't have much actual experien

Yes, that's exactly the issue. I don't remember the exact file name, maybe it was a directory named "static". The behavior was not as expected, and only a Google search helped me figure out why files were disappearing.

Do you have anything to base your skepticism on? The length of the whole canal is 200km and it took 10 years to build. I don't claim that it's exactly linear, but it sounds reasonable to assume a few weeks for just a 1km segment.

I actually don't understand why this isn't the best option right now. The east bank is mostly empty, and the channel is pretty shallow. You could probably construct a 1km detour within a few weeks with relatively low cost. Seems l

I suppose it depends on the definition of government. I was thinking of the executive branch (maybe I confused the terms). Parliament legislation would be the branch that has the responsibility to protect from such things.
