You're assuming that the phrase "crypto-magic" is reassuring instead of off-putting. 'The general public' and 'readers of HN' are basically non-overlapping sets. My mom has a credit card. Would she use Bitcoins? Not in a million years.

Does the 'average person' even know Bitcoin exists? Could you explain it to them in a way that doesnt't make it sound super-dodgy? That's why.

Are you using a one-button mouse, or no mouse whatsoever? OS X is pretty right-click friendly out of the box.

There's actually a really good thread here about this exact topic: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2267861

I would add that I normally wouldn't be inclined to create an account, given the current state of your homepage. It's not doing a good job of selling me on your service.

Not to toot my own horn, but I created exactly this a few months back: http://tipogram.com/

I did, and I maintain that the idea is good, and parts of the design are really well-realized, but it still needs some attention.

Let me add this (possibly unpopular on HN?) opinion: I have never, ever seen an open-source project that begins to compare, purely in user experience, to a closed-source/commercial project. Not saying it can't happen, but the forces that pu

Have you thought about relaunching after a redesign? What you just outlined as the idea behind the site sounds great... so I visited the site and was hit with off-putting text (the 'voice' of the site doesn't work for me), spelling errors

As a counterpoint, I'm 32. I have a wife and own a house, and get to spend precious little time with either. I gave up my secure agency job to join a startup and I'm working on side startups of my own. Not because I'm greedy, but because I

I'd disagree with my own post as well if we're spinning it out to 'all job-seekers'. This is a good point, though - there's no universal strategy.

I should write a follow-up article that says "Actually ignore everything I just said. COMMNICATION IS EVERYTHING." Honestly, I'd start writing about the aspects of your job that you find interesting and worth sharing. You can't fake enthusi

The lowest plan on Github is something like $7/mth - I think that's a worthwhile cost to be able to show your code. You could add potential employers as (temporary) collaborators.

I agree, it's much cleaner to use the built-in features of Wordpress. That said, this post is more of a gloss than an in-depth examination - this combination of plugin, template code, etc. can be used for considerably more complex purposes.

This is interesting - typically I've only come across the term 'information architecture' as it relates to design. That being said, it's not surprising considering how much leeway for interpretation 'information architecture' has.
