Each tile's heatmap takes hours to crunch, so I haven't done them all yet. Here's a sneak peek of the UK though https://mastodon.social/@tombh/115330398582193988

I'd heard of H3, they definitely sound like they could be related, but I think they're solving a different problem. I think H3 is for efficient storage of geographic data whereas I'm just trying to solve a classic packing pro

Author here. I really appreciate this question because it's the entire reason I wrote the post. I feel like this is a unique problem and so I'm sure I'm not considering all the possibilities. I _think_ your suggestion is cove

I'm the author. Well there's actually a term in the kernel to normalise the surface area of each visible point by a factor of tan(1 radian): https://github.com/tombh/total-viewsheds/blob/main/cr

Damn, that's the second time I've confused those 2 concepts. The distinction is significant. I updated the article, thanks.

What a fantastic tool. I'm the author of the post. Do you have any knowledge about how refraction can vary? I was wondering about calculating the world twice, once with a lower refraction bound and then again with an upper.

OMG! That'd be AMAZING. But it still wouldn't render GUI text as terminal font text right?

I think one significant difference though is that Browsh renders actual text for text content, so you can copy and paste, etc.

Hopefully Oliver, the creator of the project, is here to better answer, but something worth bearing in mind is that a significant part of conventional JS engines are all JIT tricks. And Porffor is AOT, so can lean on WASM and the C compiler

Where does SVG's `foreignObject` fit into this? It seems that SVG supports all of thelproposal already? As is evidenced by projects like https://github.com/zumerlab/snapdom that can take "screenshots" of

This is exactly the kind of creative thinking I want Tattoy to both inspire and make easy to implement.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that all `rust-gpu` does is compile to SPIRV, which is Vulkan's IR. So in a sense layers 2. and 3. are optional, or at least parallel layers rather than accumulative. And it's also worth rem

I think this is something that is quite actively being explored in the Ghostty community. And Tattoy automatically benefits from that because it supports the very same cursor shaders. You could check out the Ghostty Discord if you're i

Oh! You weren't missing anything, the automated Homebrew builds have been giving false positive successes since v0.1.3. I've updated it to v0.1.7 now. Thank you for mentioning this.

It very much should work on asciinema, it's all pure text after all. I'd very much appreciate a bug report. It looks like maybe Tattoy isn't connecting to the GPU on Mac: https://github.com/tattoy-org/tat

The creator here, sounds like I need to improve the docs. Did you set `enabled = true` in the `[animated_cursors]` section of the config? If so, then this could be bug, and I'd be very grateful for a report in the repo's issues:

I'm the creator of Tattoy, so thanks. A significant part of the motivation for the project is that it's fun, like a "toy", as the name suggests. I do use it everyday, but only for one serious usecase, to allow my Twitch

Author here, I just chose the fire cursor for the demo. There are lots of other shaders available, eg https://github.com/KroneCorylus/ghostty-shader-playground/tr... , they have a simple smear cursor like Neovide&#

One answer is simply that the tooling is better: test frameworks, linters, LSPs, even just including other files and syntax highlighting are better.

I've never actually made a palette, but it just doesn't seem practical to me to expect theme creators to always find a contrast-safe 16 colour palettes. I would imagine that it even seriously restricts the range of themes that can

Wow thanks for all this insight. I'd never considered the idea that the ratio of foreground to background pixels impacts the visual perception of text readability. Of course that totally makes sense now that I think about it. Do you kn
