I use it as my desktop environment. I was using XWayland at first to get this working since that was historically the norm with Wine stuff, but that ended up being really glitchy. The latest versions of Wine/Proton actually have nati

The latest version of Office 365. Well, latest as of about four or five days ago. It required me to buy a month of it for $15. I have been trying to get one of those gray-market keys from Groupon working, but that has proven to be very dif

Yeah, completely agree. I absolutely love Nix Flakes; they feel, to me, like what Docker was supposed to be. A little self-contained packaged environment that gives you a place to do any kind of custom hacks deterministically.

I like Cloudflare Tunnels a lot, but something that annoys me is that officially you're not allowed to use them for streaming video, meaning I can't put it in front of my Jellyfin without breaking TOS. I think that rule is more of

I agree with you in principle, and I honestly genuinely kind of hate Microsoft Office and I haven't used it or LibreOffice since I learned how to do LaTeX and Pandoc and Typst. That said, whether or not it should be the case, a lot

Not the OP, but I'm thinking about like closures? Say you wanted to make a Node.js framework with callbacks that react to an event. The callback might be a closure that captured some of its surrounding variables. At that point, any o

I lived in Dallas for three years, and yet somehow I had never heard of this place until I saw the LGR video about it closing, at which point I had run away to NYC Kind of sad, I think I would have very much enjoyed the place if I had known

It's a soft line in the sand for me as well. If a job pays really really well, then sure I will run Windows, but short of that I'm going to opt for Mac, or I'm going to try and figure out a way to replace the Windows with a L

I've said this before, but Microsoft has a bizarre reality distortion field where people will simply forget the bullshit they put up with with their software. People will (correctly) complain about jankiness and bullshit associated wit

Hah, I bought that URL a long time ago, mostly as an in-joke between me and some friends since Bruce Willis was my favorite actor. Then later I needed a dev URL for some work I was doing, and the only one I had free was brucewillis.sexy. T

I always associated the term “cargo culting” with that but I think that term has largely fallen out of fashion (probably for the best).

I am arguing that they would ask that anyway. I guess I never understood censorship when it’s plainly obvious what you’re censoring. Anyone who can read will clearly know that it said “crap”, so I don’t see how it’s fundamentally different

I certainly dislike how everyone on YouTube is saying “SA” and “unalive” and “corn”. It’s one thing if it’s some funny commentary channel avoiding those words, but what bothers me is the true crime YouTubers. In the subject of true crime, r

I agree. I think desktop Linux has improved significantly, and I do think that most people would be fine with one of the more normy-friendly distros like Mint, but I think macOS is a lot more approachable for most people. I set up my mother
