I don't know but I always found Google's font choice, airy cold, disconnected and vapid. Not sure why I get that response but something just feels incredibly stale and impersonal.

the small percentage of survivors will lay it out like there's specific sequence of steps but its 1) very tough to find market product fit 2) even if you do, theres no guarantee you will be chosen 3) your immediate circle, your economi

very cool, did not know there was a market for python web products. constantly being gaslighted by frontend/backend.js crowd.

This article is laughable, coming from someone who has lived in Japan, there are lot of superficial processes and forms that the society knows is useless but individuals are powerless to stop it, for instance the idea that coordinated hand

if you owned stock options and invested it in Google with portion of your salary going to it, you absolutely would be looking at extreme returns. The power of compounded returns is still not clear to some I see. With that money you could&#x

tarsnap is a one man show and he's not building a startup. he could've easily worked at Google, take advantage of the rising stock prices AND continue work on his SaaS. Lot of us do exactly that because it doesn't make sense

I'm still a bit steamed from being gaslit all throughout the mid-2010s years when we were told <div id="root"></div> + SPA was The One True Way of building web applications. omg. tell me about it.

Absolutely refreshing to read and I feel that many of us are fed up with the 2015 approach, two codebases, with much of the woes coming from the frontend. I'm super relieved to see that many of us are beginning to see the emperor witho

The two aren't mutually exclusive, you could've easily started out with salary + stock options that would've put you in a better position to start a side gig. Then you might actually be driving a lambo now too ;)

You are being pressured to get higher salary for the same level of work you are currently doing and this is a problem? Strange.

I feel such a disconnect from all the comments. Seems most engineers/manager in the comments are pulling by my estimates, $400,000~$1,000,000+ a year arguing over culture. I don't get it because it's not an issue outside of F

I'm genuinely worried for that guy. He's exposing powerful connected people and I can't really see that end well. It's not like people retweeting and liking his tweets have any sort of power like what is alleged.

you haven't worked in the industry long enough if you haven't encountered poorly constructed/documented API integration from vendors. the ideal world you described does not exist on this planet.

Felt like a wallstreetbets post. Inflation is only at "8%" (still remember back in 2021 calling this a conspiracy), so 8 / 12 = ~0.7% = 700 USD loss / month on 10k deposit.
