This is just flatly untrue here, and arguable on other networks. I get tired of the idea that each single individual is owed direct say in the features and behaviors of networks on the Internet. I think it's the same sentiment that mak

So people decided to argue a sub-point of my question but not a single person would answer it directly? This is a community, do what you want, but I'm actually seeking your advice on what technology to use! Isn't that HN's d

LightTable and the source material that inspired me mean a lot to me, but I don't use it because I'm a really conservative adopter of technology. HN: Do you use it and should I use it for my HTML/CSS/JS? As I understand

The sad part about this is, from what I can tell, there's not going to be any fixing this any time soon. The company who wrote the code doesn't know what they're doing, and nobody else is ever going to be able to figure it ou

They do! Also, it turns out you can turn on email notifications to your answers for any question at any time, but only every 3 hours, ever day, or every week. I want them the second they happen, so I'm gonna try your RSS function!

You should make one for Stack Overflow: when you ask a SO question, you're literally stuck until someone answers it.

I think the coolest thing about watching the project is that some of the ideas are like, actually good ideas. Maybe not huge ideas, but they're good ideas. I especially like Open Note. I always thought the bottleneck for Jennifer would

The ending: "Try this: build 1 website in 1 day" reminds of something an internet spam/dark arts guru said that really inspired me (won't link for reasons): "If someone held a gun to your head and said you have 24 h

Rails was released in 2003, and 2013 is almost over. So the question is "in 2 years, will Ruby on Rails still be popular and competitive" - yes. VERY much yes. In 10 years, we can debate that, but in 2016? No way!

The pricing honestly makes this unfeasible for me. This is exactly what I was looking for, but if I have an app I expect to be at least slightly popular, even the 20,000 plays a month at $95 is going to be too much, especially for launch mo

Yeah I'm actually 50/50 on this, but I posted this in the middle of the day, bad time to post to HN, because I don't see it as a post that needs to be on the front page. But at the same time, I really, REALLY hope startups kn

He's done a great job of explaining this in the past - just making sure to clear it up. The worst thing in raising money is realizing you're not there yet - because NOBODY will tell you that, especially not investors.

You'll notice a common theme in this (excellent) piece: it's for startups that have some reason to believe they can actually raise a bunch of money. Startups who have either sufficient demonstrable talent behind them, are growing
