Anytime Facebook and Myspace get compared, I tune out immediately. They have nothing in common, Facebook ate Myspace's lunch when it was 10 million users, this has nothing to do with what may kill a network with the entire US and 1 bil

That's not true necessarily: what if you're trying to vertically align something of a known height on something WITHOUT a known height. The thing with the unknown height is responsive, while the overlay is not. That's what I

This is the first time in my life going to HN while I'm futzing with a problem has actually helped. Thought I was going to take my mind off - instead I found the answer immediately!

I would say generally the market recently in IPOs has been losing the banks money, so you're at least wrong there. I do wish the public had a chance to invest in rapidly growing things like Twitter earlier - let's say 2010.

If this were a seamless experience, this would be really amazing. Not going to sign up for Alpha because I don't need it right now, but I'll be back.

The absolute best thing about HN is that if you're a Hacker, it's a semi-complete resource of what's relevant. Not every celebrity death belongs on HN, but this one absolutely does. It's hard to explain why it does, whic

You doubt you could find a company that prohibited accessing LinkedIn from a work computer? In that scenario, how hard would you be trying? Many companies I know don't let their employees upgrade their IE from 6 or 7 (which is where th

I rather enjoyed this post, but what a ridiculous premise. "There's a few great startups to come out of here over the last 100 years, the other thousands of students must feel the pressure to drop out!" I mean, what?
