"They don't get excited about pretending to run a startup" That's the biggest difference between me now and starting my first company - I was ultra-excited to call myself "CEO of startup" the first time around,

I did a quick model with this tonight after a full day of investor pitches, and even though I'm exhausted I got about a 70% accurate model done in about 5 minutes. I know how to use Excel, but I just wouldn't have gotten that done

I'll give you this: "It's hard to argue I'm biased against female founders when I have a female cofounder myself" is a weak sentence. Yes, you having a female co-founder is strong evidence, but if you do sexist thin

It's a clunky transition, but the transition goes from "I (PG) have a female co-founder" to "here is the makeup of YC as it applies to women" in the second sentence of the second paragraph. He was accused both of be

Saying what Airbnb isn't growth hacking doesn't mean it wasn't. There were no protocols into Craigslist for cross-posting and they had to hack them together to get growth - that's growth hacking.

Side note: if anyone knows who said "instead of being a gatekeeper, we should be a gateway" I'd love to see it. It's similar to what I said except way, way better and I'd love to see the context.

I think you're reaching. Paul isn't talking about whether or not he is sexist, he's talking about whether YC is sexist. He's not saying HE has women FRIENDS he's saying YC is actually RUN in a large degree by women,

Also, I must say I apologize for my Gatekeeper comments ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6986872 ). I didn't have YC's female founder numbers at the time, but being 2x the average VC's portfolio in terms

I think health is a wealth asset of it's own, because if you lack it you'll trade your wealth to get it back if possible. It also gives you the ability to turn your education and intelligence into more tangible wealth, which I wil

I like that a lot - it kind of bothers when people talk about what Bitcoin IS, like a recent TechCrunch article explaining how the writer lost faith in it as a money transfer protocol. Just because BTC is really valuable right now, doesn&#x

This is a really good idea - my last semester of college I tried to get a sorority to let me do this for them (bc of something PG mentioned once that seemed like a good idea), but none of them actually could identify a problem they had. It

Um, yeah - gatekeepers are WAY more present in TV, radio, and blogs than even at YC. At least at YC there are lots of partners, in those examples it's usually one person who decides to have you on. Patriarchy is a way bigger problem in

Great question - and as a side note, sorry to the people on HN I'm going to be bothering about this for the next 6 months. We're building this for Hackers and this is where they live - should be a mutually beneficial relationship

I find iOS autolayout to be horrible, so I agree. Even dealing with iPhone4 vs. iPhone 5 is ridiculously hard for no reason.

Got it, that's what I was assuming it was. That's very cool. Will it handle screen sizes, scroll views, tablet vs. phone, etc? If not, I can't give my design team this tool then code from their views, it just won't work.

Haha well there we go! We'll be launching our APIs at least publicly around late February, so stay tuned! Also going to change the name FYI, but haven't settled on what.
