Whilst true this is also misleading in that road wear is not completely from trafficking, and so the 1400x just looks at the marginal difference. The proportion of wear accountable to your relatively fixed externalities (weather, water, uti

I do normally love to hate on the Guardian, but that is from their 'comment is free' opinion section, rather than the main news site. BBC and many others have these, which are basically just magazine format and of little journalis

Have you done much scraping in the past? There's normally a lot more to it when javascript is involved, captcha systems etc. This is obviously helped recently by the relatively new headless modes for Chrome & Firefox, but before th

There's a big chance the cost of any fallout is going to hit your company harder than any extra % you negotiate. I know it's not easy if it feels like your partner is not pulling their weight, but your focus should be on making th

If you want to see pretty much all the most effective measures in action, go to a ticket reseller like Viagogo and follow something through to the basket. It is both impressive and amazing the amount of psychological steers there are on the

I agree this seems like a meritable solution. But I think this also bears quite close resemblance to how the taxi and medallion system sprung up in many cities, ultimately corrupted by the economic value of being in this exclusive club.

You're missing the biggest one - evacuation. The reason many tunnels are oversized is to allow walkways for people to evacuate using in an emergency. This drives the size up a fair bit.

Most of the EU satellite stuff is open licensed, lookup Sentinel II. Various wavelengths and new data every 5 days (so if it's cloudy you can try again). It's not the most user-friendly though, you have to download large swathes a

The UK also has problems with particularly expensive infrastructure projects. They tend to cost magnitudes more in common law countries (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, NZ. This is generally down to the land and legal costs, with the dispute fr

You'd be surprised how negligible the environmental impact of shipping compared to production is. As an extreme example, it's cheaper in terms of CO2e emissions to produce and ship lamb from New Zealand to the United Kingdom than

You are looking at a conflict of the needs of many and the needs of a few (scale). Maybe it is higher quality, but how can an individual inspector assure that without evidence? The reality is housing is often up for 100+ years with ~10 owne

Leverage is the key. Someone could buy a $200k house for $20k of their own money in the form of a deposit for a mortgage. Now say house prices go up 4% a year (so probably less than S&P) for 5 years, while the mortgage interest is 1.5%.
