Hey, 22-year old self, you know all that stuff you're worried to death about? All those failures and existential crap that's keeping you awake? It doesn't matter. I know it really seems like it does but, trust me, it doesn't. No, not th

Yes, folks like breck are why we stopped advertising on the content network. It provided us with nothing but a way to indirectly fund bloggers or buy someone sushi at the Google cafeteria. Behaviour like that is going to kill 'ad supported

I'm in Canada (and have lived for a spell in the U.S.) and not watching television in both nations does strike many people as 'odd'. For the idea of doing more of something "out of spite" in reaction to a preacher's recommendation that you

The essay struck me as being more condescending than helpful (and I despise TV). If you were a regular TV watcher who had no intention of quitting, would that essay do anything other than encourage you to watch more out of spite?

Yeah, I went through a sanctimonious "Oh, I wouldn't know. You see, I don't have a television!" phase too. I suspect I was about as annoying as those ex-smokers who can't shut up about how awesome life is without cigarettes.

I own my company, love the technology, am delighted in the revenue it's giving me and am absolutely bored to death with the task I am doing today. It needs to be done and I'm doing it, but this day has been an absolute slog with every keys

I find it helps to remember that if I don't do the boring stuff my company is going to fail, I'll be working for someone else again and the only reason for failure will be that I was too bored to do the work that was essential for success (

Day-to-day motivation is easy: My company is my job, if I don't work on it it will fail, and there will be no one to blame for that but myself. Work when you work. Rest when you rest. Play when you play. If you're too unfocused to work,
