I was almost with you, because much as I love the 6502, it is kind of weird by modern "standards". But then: the Apple II? Like, wtf man. C'mon. The Apple II is shit . Is it just because you like that sweet double density di

2008 was probably not the best time to ask that question - and it's probably not the best time to ask it now either. (Unless you want a negative, doom-laden answer, in which case you got lucky both times!)

The cars I've driven in the UK have varied. The only ones I remember for certain are Nissan Micra (indicators on the right) and BMW 3 series (indicators on the left), and the others have varied. My fingers only seem to know which is wh

Suppose the author wasn't Probably One Of Those People, and didn't apparently have some kind of axe to grind about whatever bee in their bonnet buzzes about, constantly tickling their lips? Then they'd phrase it more like you

This apparently isn't universally true; the manual for my rear wheel drive car says to lift it by the front wheels, put it in neutral, and leave the rear wheels on the ground. The automatic version does have to be set to a specific gea

printf_p is pretty neat, thanks for the pointer. But I would bet that you will still find at least one %d gets turned into a %s. I like printf format strings, but as a way of handling localizable strings I don't think they are the best

I've never seen locale-dependent format strings work well. The translators will change the formatting codes, and you can't change the order of the formatted arguments. You are much better off with some other mechanism for this.

The enum idea is interesting. I've previously used an extern with a conditional size of either 1 (valid) or -1 (invalid). This requires no additional boilerplate, and is #define-able into a static assert when built with a recent enough

Another way of looking at it: if you don't want fread to overwrite N-1 bytes, don't tell it it can overwrite N-1 bytes! (Also, check the return value...)

This doesn't match up with my experience. The "tickets please" acts as a warning to phone-ticket users that they need to get the QR code visible. Could depend on when you travel I suppose.

The 68000 has the ABCD instruction: http://68k.hax.com/ABCD (and SBCD, and NBCD) The ABCD -(An),-(An) form is presumably for big-endian multi-byte BCD values, as the X flag participates.

I've found Meld pretty good for free, but I only use it for hobby stuff so I've never needed to try out the 3-way aspect. But for side-by-side folder and file diffs I've found it decent enough relative to Araxis. And, like Ar
