I was thinking the opposite: it's actually surprising how long 16 GB has remained a useful amount of RAM? At home I use a 10 year old 16 GB laptop and the amount of RAM never seems to be the problem. Any sloth is always due to one or b

Why not google it and post the link? This will ensure that we don't get some other result that you're not thinking of.

360 KB/side was indeed the default for the Atari ST, but there were numerous tools (I think Fastcopy III was the one I usually used) to format with more sectors per track, and 10 sectors/track (so 400 KB/side) was the standar

UPROPERTY tagging - indeed, pretty much everything does need this, but nothing actually seems to check whether you're getting it right. You can easily add a UObject * , fail to tag it as a UPROPERTY, and now stuff will go wrong. This i

Feels slightly surprising, at least from the comfort of my 21st century armchair, that they went to all that effort for 800 KB per disk. The Atari ST (with an off the shelf 1772 FDC) had no problem with 800 KB - 2 sides, 80 tracks, 10 secto

Let's cross that bridge when we come to it, shall we. Meanwhile, you should be glad we are refusing to use it. If it works as well as you claim, this situation is to your advantage.

It's C++, which is rarely good. The language is large and complicated and you generally need to be extra careful when using it. There's a lot of features that interact with one another in surprising ways. UE5 does its best not to

Also: it's hardly improved significantly over the past 25 years! It's as rubbish as ever. If attempting to make the argument that Windows is changing stuff all the time, the command prompt really is the oddest thing to point at.

On the flip side, targeting developers tightens the scope quite a lot! If nothing else, it massively increases the chance your target audience can at least get by with left-to-right text and 7-bit ASCII... Cornut recently did a 10 year retr

I'm not sure I've ever used any library that goes to any particular effort to support this sort of thing. The standard assumption for listboxes is that every row has the same height. So you'd probably handle it the same way y

An error about the app being damaged specifically can stem from the contents of the .app folder being modified after it was signed with the codesign tool. You can use codesign --verify (consult the man page) to get some info about why it&#x

But I don't especially want to switch text editor every 5 years! Besides, the clock starts ticking from day 1, so if you want the full lifespan then you'll need to start using it while it's still half-baked and buggy and has

Yeah. Text editors constantly come and go. And that's no bad thing, but for those of us just wanting to edit some text: what do we do? The design goal of these projects is always to be better than what's currently available, which
