The mid-1980s Acorn 8-bit range all used dynamic RAM for the onboard memory. The BBC Micro range all had 250 ns DRAM, with the CPU getting 2e6 accesses and the video getting the other 2e6 (taking advantage of the 6502's predictable RAM

Ha. I was starting to find the article a bit tiring and the moment my eyes landed on the Conclusion heading I stopped right there. You shouldn't trust my criticisms either.

For the amount of time and effort that went into that article, the author could surely have fixed at least one of the things they complain about! And they don't seem to understand the C #include mechanism at all , so should we even pa

It's quite possible that there are just people flagging things without commenting. I do this all the time if the discussion looks particularly stupid, unproductive, bad-tempered, pointless, and so on - or some combination thereof. (I h

I figured enough people just flag the submission, because they don't want to put up with the Xlibre guy's specific category of shit, or that of his inevitable hangers-on. Are they right? Are they wrong? Well, it's their decis

Yes, this was a video game, targeting games consoles - so the executable statically links with pretty much everything, including stuff that would count as part of the OS on a PC. And then, if you can make sure everybody builds with the same

The return value refers to the same element that you'd reach by skipping over the elemnent(s) rather than deleting them. So if doing 1 elemnt at a time, you can ++it (and now it is the next element), or you can it=erase(it) (and now t

The whole point of gofmt is that you type in whatever you like and gofmt sorts it out for you. So if you're typing your code in a HN comment box, you'd surely just enter it roughly like that - though i recommend not even including

Iterator-based std::unordered_map::erase and std::map::erase return a new iterator, one past the range erased, specifically so that you can erase while iterating. Along these untested lines: for(decltype(cont)::const_iterator it=cont.
