I've never handled a £50 note. (I am young enough that if you gave me £1 for every year I've never handled one, I wouldn't be able to afford one. But I am old enough that I could dip into my lifetime of savings to make up the

Hammerspoon is quite easy to use, so attempting to cobble together your own thing (that does exactly what you want) might also be feasible. The documentation is decent and the iteration time is short. It took me about 30 minutes to replicat

I'm not the person you're replying to, but for my part I do actually like to hear when people think it sounds like it's AI-generated.

Seconded. They're pretty good and I've found them a decent replacement for the MS Ergonomic 4000 keyboards that I used to use. Full size keyboard with keys in the normal places, reverse tilt, manageable F lock, and a cable to conn

Apple have always seemed to drop support for hardware after 5-7 years, and then it's just a question of the last supported OS becoming itself unsupported too. My early 2015 Macbook Pro (new in April 2015) got as far as macOS Monterey (

Add me to the VB for DOS fan club! I was a user in the mid to late 90s. TurboVision was beyond me at the time (I didn't really know Pascal well at all, and I wasn't good enough at C++), but VB for DOS was just the ticket (mostly)

Regarding other BASIC versions: it's probably-abandonware rather than open source, but the (more than slightly inscrutable) source code for Acorn's 8-bit BBC BASIC is here: https://github.com/stardot/AcornDmos

I'd say it's definitely weird for a standalone assembler. For standalone 6502 assemblers, some approximation of the standard MOS-type syntax has always been near-universal. Though you're quite correct about some of the advant

Why do they need so many threads? This really feels like they just designed the cpu poorly, in that it can't extract enough parallelism out of the instruction stream already. (Intel and AMD stopped at 2! Apparently more wasn't wor

Total throughout has always seemed better with it switched on for me, even for stuff that isn't hyper threading friendly. You get a free 10% at least.

The only particularly bad case I've found is v/w/z being right next to one another, which can be annoying. Still, I think I've won out overall. I spend a lot more time typing text than I do invoking keyboard shortcuts. R

In many (most?) salary jobs, employees are typically paid both to get the job done, and to supply at least N hours of their time for the company to have them use as it sees fit.
