You've probably noticed that the cynicism is reinforced by a concerted campaign of eg. op-eds, but if you want hard evidence, here's the front page piece I was talking about: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion

As far as I can tell the opposition is driven by Blackberry who want to exclude foreign ocmpanies so they can bid for the contract without any competition. Proof? One of the BB founders got the front page of the Globe (Canada's nation

Google has already addressed this. If you are going to post about this it seems remis to not include something about their explanation.

The impact of the stimulus can only last so long, and eventually you've got to pay it back down. So, the recession had better be cancelled because we've already blown all the money that we would normally use to stimulate ourselves

Harari is great and I really hope Zuckerberg has read and absorbed some of his stuff. Harari's most recent book got some negativity for promoting meditation, which I think some took as a self indulgent detour but it actually makes sens

Oh, good. Thanks for pointing that out. I used fastmail for many years and am glad to know that it ended up independent.

They have G Suite, and they also tried a more consumer oriented version but no one wanted to pay. I would love it if more of the Internet were based on payments and micro-payments but consumers have voted decisively against that. I try to s

In his first post (above) he said that he is from Google but he is not acting in any official capacity here. It is not Google support, it is just an employee giving some insight on his own time. What is wrong with that?

Yup, I've had the same thing. Just kinda amusing and ironic since I didn't happen to care about that event but it makes one nervous about relying on spam filtering. On the other hand, once you train it a bit, it is mostly remarka

I don't think anyone wants to use Lidar - the claim is that they need it to achieve full, safe, autonomy. If it turns out that it isn't needed than Tesla will be in a great position. But only time will tell.

I'm a fan of Tesla, but not Musk. You really can't believe much that comes out of his mouth. If you look at his past claims it becomes clear that he should just be ignored.
