There is also the issue that implementing things like method_missing and import are prohibitively difficult without new syntax. Objective-J's code importer is one of the more complex pieces (as it manages to do so completely asynchronously)

If you look at the title you'll see that this is actually just the "highlights" reel. The actual talk given at FOWA went much further in depth into the actual technologies. Hopefully they will put this up too.

CGRectMake does not make a div, it makes a rectangle that defines the location and size of views ( see http://developer.apple.com/documentation/GraphicsImaging/Ref... )

I've been avoiding this whole latest essay debacle, but this essay particularly struck me. It is not a balanced perspective at all in my opinion, and is quite frankly the silliest and saddest rebuttal I've read so far. What this person fun

Yeah, but if you care about the mobile market at all, then PDF is the way to go, given that Mobile Safari is the number 1 mobile browser and it supports PDF natively (as well as .doc)

WebKit proper is Objective-C. WebCore and JavaScriptCore (which sit below WebKit) are both C++ (technically portions are Objective-C++ I guess).

Apple has open source figured out. It's the prefect fusion: the core technologies ( http://webkit.org ) are open source, but they manage the UI like no one else can. Software with style, the way it should be. The WebKit team is absolutel
