I found "C++ Primer" by Lippman et al very well written and comprehensive. It includes C++11 features and every chapter has exercises to make sure you understand the content. https://www.amazon.com/Primer-5th-Stanl

I am considering Qt as well. Modern C++ is a very nice language. I actually prefer it over Java, and I do a lot of Java at work.

Agreed. Most Americans are unaware how destabilizing US policies have been to Latin America in general. From toppling democratically elected leaders, to supporting corrupt murderous regimes during the cold war.

Epic series. Age of Empires II and III were my favorite, and most played RTS games. I spent hundreds of hours battling friends and strangers online. The games had a lot of depth, looked amazing, and no two matches were ever the same.

Spanish native speaker here. The influence from Arabic is mostly in vocabulary, about 10% of our words have Arabic roots. However, Arabic had negligible influence in structure and grammar. Spanish is your standard Latin derived language.

Very interesting article. My dad, an engineer, had the successor to this model, the HP-45. It was an amazing machine for it's time. Because of it, I fell in love with RPN and refused to use anything else. When I went to college I got a

I think the bigger risk is internal strife. When half or your citizens hate the other half, that's a recipe for disaster.

There are things that Excel is good for and some that it's not. This article seems like it's blaming the tool instead of the people who are using it incorrectly. Also I laughed when one of the complaints was "Older versions o

As someone approaching 50 myself, I've seen my career growth options limited as an individual contributor. I love coding and have never been interested in management, and I think this has limited my salary increases. As an experienced

I completely agree with you. As a long time Mac user I remember how Macs would delight you with the details. The thoughtfulness that went into making your life easier, to facilitate getting your work done. With this latest generation of Mac

Having Reader View available out of the box is huge for me. This is one of the reasons I prefer Safari when I'm on MacOS. But I use Ubuntu most of the time, so I'm switching back to Firefox as my default browser. So far, it's

I think the lack of standard ports, mag-safe, hdmi and sd card slots are big regressions in functionality. Not to mention that the touchbar is not very useful, and as an emacs user, a big pain to not have a physical <esc> key.

Mine (Xbox One) failed after a year as well. I didn't use the motion sensor as much as the always on Mic. I loved walking into the room and saying "Xbox On" and my Xbox would turn on. "Xbox Pause" and "Xbox res

I'm with nailer on this. All I need is a decent built-in console with tabs and good support for bash, powershell and cmd.

The Duskfall, Mors Principium Est or Kataklysm are my faves. Melodic but not too melodic like Dark Tranquility.

IRIX was actually System V (with BSD extensions) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRIX . But I agree, it was very nice and I remember it fondly.

This is very interesting. I think I have a mild version of this. Since I was a young (6 or 7) kid I remember how it pissed me off when someone would make noises while I was watching TV. It used to be enough for me to storm out of the room.

1060 GPUs are power hungry, and MacBook Pros have generally not included this class of graphics hardware. It would be more likely, if they were to move to Nvidia, to use the 1050 instead.

It depends on the laptop. I've seen Dell XPS-13 and XPS-15 on sale at BB. Both of which are excellent.

Did the machine come with Ubuntu out of the box, or did you install it yourself? That is one of the reasons my company went with System76. They ship with Ubuntu installed and will provide support, drivers for all the hardware, etc. The Oryx

As a heavy bash user I have to agree. Even the new Linux subsystem for Windows terminals use the horrible command prompt. I wish they would port Ubuntu's terminal app with tabs and much better usability.
