A Ponzi scheme is an investment fund whereby older investors are paid returns from newer investor principle. Tether does not promise any returns. It’s not an investment. It’s a stable coin. It’s traded near $1 to 1 tether. Most traders don’

Email supports instant notifications, via your provider’s app or IMAP IDLE. I use Fastmail and get push notifications for email the instant it is received.

Investment returns are affected the same by inflationary or deflationary purchasing power. 2% inflation means returns must be above 2% to be profitable, and 2% deflation would mean returns need to be above 2% to beat risk free return. It’s

I love the UI. Clean, focused, and specifically tailored to scrum. I think sprints enforced by the interface is critical to keep management on track. The companies I worked at which used Asana, Trello, or free-form task lists were a mess. I

Instead of writing custom CSS you could use or develop a UI library that targets browsers consistently, and use that.

That’s why I prefer to use UI and JS libraries that are already tested and work consistently across browsers. It’s easier to reuse libraries across projects instead of reinventing the wheel, and spending time chasing down browser inconsiste

I don’t do cross browser testing at all. I use JavaScript supported across all major browsers, and UI frameworks/libraries that work consistently across all major browsers.

I wonder what the range in conversation change was for landing page tweaks. I’m curious how much landing page tweaks in general really matter. Do you see 50% changes in conversion by making copy changes, or 5%?

Protonmail. Emails are end-to-end encrypted at rest so sysadmins and others can’t access them. Fastmail is also a good provider, but you won’t get the same peace of mind as protonmail.

Yes, SMTP is insecure. Protonmail emails are end-to-end encrypted at rest. So server admins or whoever can’t just look at all your emails whenever they want, potentially years after they’ve been received. Contrast that with Fastmail, Gmail,

It’s interesting to me that so many on HN insist on the value of privacy, but are hostile to financial privacy. To quote Edward Snowden: ”The central property of cash is fungibility—meaning a dollar spent by a plumber is honored equally to

If you’re going to look for ideas, it may be more useful to focus on what others want, instead of what you want. Look at your skills and how best you can help other people with what they want, then solve one specific problem for one person

Protonmail emails are end-to-end encrypted such that the staff can’t just login to the database and read your email. Sure, maybe it’s not going to protect you from the NSA, but it’s a lot better than leaving everyone’s emails unencrypted at

I would choose Protonmail because your emails won’t be readable by their staff. I’m on Fastmail but will switch to Protonmail when my plan is due to renew. My emails are my life and it’s unsettling that people I don’t know can access them,
