Have you tried working backwards? I mean, thinking about what you might want to be doing in 5 or 10 years? Then taking steps that get you there. It sounds cheesy but if you know where you're heading you'll make better choices in t

Big thanks for that. I'll give it a read. We've hit problems with ack in the past. So I thought we could add more acks to increase confidence. But it's never 100% certainty. I'm sure this paper will help understand the i

Kind of, yup. That said, one detail I left out is that this transaction is distributed across 4 separate systems, so it's not quite as simple as a database lock. And I wouldn't do a long db lock unless it was some kind of pessimis

Cheers, I think this might be what we settle on (or similar). One slight tweak would be to do a "retry" using the guid, but the server knows to send result of last success if the guid matches a completed transaction.

P.S - my current favourite solution would be a 2 phase commit when the mobile client does 2nd API call to commit the booking. Server rolls back the booking if no commit received within N seconds/minutes.

Does it still work against directly CouchDB? Had some fun times with the mobile/CouchDB sync. When Sync Gateway came along things got complicated (to me). Mostly because of another component to deploy, monitor etc. Did you consider bun

Looks like they still need each mobile user to authenticate against DropBox via OAuth popup?

Yes, this is probably the root cause. I guess fundamentally we can never get predictable if we don't schedule work.

Good idea. It will probably take a month for us to determine our velocity, then we can predictably dish out points.

The "trade this ticket X that ticket Y" is a good approach. I've done that too with _some_ success. One problem is that we have multiple clients, so each doesn't care about the others tickets.

Ask friends or existing customers. Failing that, I create a marketing page with screenshots, explanation of why it's cool, and a "register your interest for early access" form. Then try and do some SEO so it appears in search

Hello there! I'm using it today for a sales document, it's sweet. Well, there are some more complex yUML diagrams on the yUML samples page that don't work. It's probably yUML's fault because the syntax isn't qu

Got it working with on-the-fly yUML diagrams. Example: http://fiddle.md/c74bgs3vthgqm8mtt9kx3z Not perfect, but wouldn't take much to make it play nicely?
