Very fragile. It always baffles me how close to the ground airplanes fly during take-off and landing and how there aren't lunatics messing with them more often. In the US there are places where it is legal for a regular Joe to stand un

That is quite a list. Some of the choices I don't agree with. For me the first thing I install though is Ublock Origin. Can't use the web without it.

I'm not sure if it's about making them taboo. We're not "banning" the words white and black. We're not saying you can't use those words to describe color for instance (e.g. "the wall is white", &

I was too until I heard that it might not be the most stable desk, something that's very important to me. So I'm looking at Effydesk[0] right now. [0] https://effydesk.ca/collections/electric-standing-desks

The best person to answer that question is your future manager.

For sure salaries don't compare but that wasn't the question. If you want to maximize salary then you probably want to work for FAANG and go through the interview process.

Absolutely not true, at least in my experience. Could it be a Bay area problem? I'm in Vancouver BC and interviewing right now and it's definitely different here.

I'm starting to agree with that. And the older I get, the less I feel like I want to study for a couple of weeks for an interview process that has a high probability of not resembling the work I'd be doing. The other day an Amazon

My guess is it's because phone or cable companies don't apply comparable measures, at least not that I know of. Targeted content for example.

While this is a horrifying story, I'm having a hard time seeing the relevance here. There is nothing in the article indicating that the errors were caused by the family agreeing to organ donation.

Lots of generalization in here. I find that #1 and #3 are often under people's control. With the right setup, dedicated room, dedicated hours and time keeping it's easy to not let those happen. What you mention in your second argu

Indeed very fascinating. Reminds me of doing something similar, albeit a thousand times dumber in ~2004 when I had to find a way to "compress" interior automotive audio data, indicator sounds, things like that. At some point inste

It does look a bit asymmetric on the left there. But difficult to say given that there are 4 wheels on each side.

IANAL but for it to be "murder" there usually needs to be premeditation so I think the comparison is not appropriate in this case.

I always thought about the market here as a healthy competition. With car2go gone, I wonder what that'll mean for the market now? Also Evo has even less of an incentive now to fix their broken Android app.
