If one isn't in the US or Canada Facebook is theoretically legally obliged to send you all data it has about you, if you request so. They seem to make that more and more difficult though.

The other day it wouldn't even allow me to remove or truncate files, because it was running out of space. I was annoyed: How would you free space if you can't remove anything. There wasn't any snapshot of those files, but I was able to free

Never had a problem here in Germany either. Smoking is luckily not allowed anymore, as well. There is a quiet car, too, but it is hardly necessary. Talking on the cell phone loudly is frowned upon everwhere, even in the underground train --

I myself like to do this. But only for home servers. I would never do that for a "serious" application. There are several reasons, the most important one being that this is a perfect example where outsourcing the work is both cheaper (econo

Well it seems to be the logical choice, but the UK is currently backing out of the EU, so we would not have any native speakers. And while some countries (spain probably included) are reasonable blasé about adopting other languages, forget

I'm confused as well. Every claim of the patent begins with "A computer-implemented method..." so it is definitely a software patent. I think this is just for damage and they have to counter-sue for invalidility separately.

We live in a world with finite resources. That means nothing is free and everything has a cost associated with it. That means you have to think a little bit about the cost and benefit of doing something. You cannot save all children.

I wonder how they plan to win that one, given that there are no software patents in Germany. (Only if software is used in connection with a "technical" invention)

Not only that you can use Bitcoin scramblers to launder your bitcoins. Because nobody mentioned them yet: They forward money for a fee. With enough users one can then not trace the transaction anymore. And that makes Bitcoins a anonymous me
