I really dug into APL style languages. I learned Mathematica which really opened my mind to new ways of programming. I also learned a lot about how web pages actually render. I highly recommend everyone checks out Chrome's Advanced Pai

I always saw it as his way of teaching of grammars. But I think it is kind of bad that the grammar isn't actually creating a solvable system.

I think one thing that seems to be missed here is none of the products they showed were that original. It's not like WeChat was some amazing new idea. It was chat. Their only real advantage is a captive market.

You hit on something important which is there's a difference between being a programmer and being a programmer on a team. Working together on something creative like a codebase or a design is a whole different set of skills that's

This seems really cool but I can't imagine using a task manager that doesn't also have a mobile app.

Yeah one of the major points towards vim is pretty much every unix environment has vim installed.

So is part of the idea of releasing the schematics that it might push VR headset makers to adopt a design similar to this?

I really hope Snap's struggles as a public company don't effect other "Unicorns" going public. Judging from Spotify's weird IPO filing I think other companies are getting spooked.

This maybe isn't a project management "best practice" but one of the things my team does that is great is that we insert JIRA ticket links into changelogs. We also put revision numbers as well, it makes it really easy to cros

I think the difference is it's a little easier to control other forms of "screen time". That other stuff is pure entertainment and they don't have the addictive aspect of a feed.

It's also been experimentally proven that people have issues discerning fake news online. Our news literacy is falling rapidly. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/11/23/503129818...

Keep in mind the person who wrote this run's a DIY venue in Brooklyn so they're pretty torn up about this. Spotify is pretty terrible for struggling DIY artists who mainly rely on album/merch sales at shows.

I'm not so sure. 8tracks tried that by collecting playlists from real people but it hasn't been able to stick. I think people like convenience and nothing is more convenient than a computer telling you what to do.

This is also the way most technology goes. You used to be able to fix any part of a car. Now engines are sealed and hard to repair and cars have automatic transmissions. Consumer electronics takes this path as well. This is why voice assist

To add to what others have said, VIM has a lot of features of modern editors. They have code folding, autocomplete, and more. Most of it's built in but there's a multitude of plugins for all this.
