Even after Juniper had the fiasco with malware built into their switches? Guessing that won't happen again but kind of shocked.

Definitely not pointing fingers (I'd take the stance of Linus in giving nVidia the middle finger). Just from the point of a consumer trying to get work done on my machine and deliver things in a reasonable time frame. I expect to be ab

Unfortunately all Linux distributions seem to have issues for me. I just want to install something and have it work. Ubuntu doesn't like my 4tb drives and the Nvidia driver support is horrible for fedora. Less people using Linux makes

Looks like a great set of starter apps if anybody wants to try and revive HP's WebOS.

Ease of deploying is a huge thing which gets lost. Over focusing on a single area of an application makes things really obvious the big picture was lost somewhere.

The core of what differentiates applications isn't what happens on the front end. Putting all the focus on the client which gets delivered seems like a misappropriation of funds. Especially as one man teams it just doesn't make se

Yea definitely, had so many horrible experiences picking up other people's python projects. Maybe it's my experiences, but I tend to do a good job avoiding dependencies. ML is resource intensive, doesn't make sense to use JVM

Patents don't seem to carry as much weight in this industry. There's a million and one ways of doing things, the way patents work is a specific implementation. Gaining a patent amounts to throwing stones at each other. 20k is a lo

I’ve seen startups which got millions in funding to do basic appointment scheduling. If I had actual funds seeing something like that for $20k might not be a bad idea and totally possible for decent coder to generate in a month.

Might not be bad. I’ve thrown some change at a few cool ideas because I appreciated the work. It’s definitely not false hope, but people should realize the difficulties aren’t related to code.

Kk I’ll make a copy of this after my current contract is up. $10 a month take it or leave it.

Mavens definitely nicer than Gradle, but when you have to shade Jars it becomes almost impossible to use. In python you can specify the version. The popular ML libs in Java are actually still broken and have been for years.

I love how people just downvote comments instead of provide adequate feedback. Like a chain of tiny dicked mean people who want other people to use broken languages.

Yeah but that's expected given it went from a fancy scripting language to one that supports modern features of other programming languages. I had a similar problem moving apps from earlier versions of Java a decade ago.

Any problem you have with python could be used describe Amy nodejs application. Your just trying to get people to use languages which are less useful in practice (other than Java).

I have yet to have a python versioning issue, but with java I've had tons. Worst of all, it's always a clear "use the latest version and it will work". With python using the latest version almost always works, and you ca

Playing devil's advocate, but telling a jury information as if you are an expert when you are not is something to be careful of. Not saying you need credentials but it's difficult for outside disciplines to know if somebody knows
