What does the comment about stack unwinding refer to? I've always found macros pretty horrid for debugging because you can't step through them properly. I just tried with gcc 6.0 and gdb 7.11 and it still seems to be unsupported

What problems would there be doing things from GNU make, that there wouldn't be when doing the same thing from a shell script? My experience has been that you can totally use GNU make as a replacement for shell scripts, and it works fi

I don't know if they fixed VSS in later versions, but I used it in a team environment from 2000-2002, and heard of other people using it similarly even later than that (including for art assets as well as code...), seemingly without an

The MBP's sound hardware might not have a problem with it, but I was using the MBP's built in speakers ;) They're generally pretty good on the newer models, I think, as laptop speakers go. My 3-word review might be "bett

With the volume at maximum on my 2015 MBP I get sound... of some description, at least. It just doesn't sound much like it does through headphones. It sounds like speakers trying to reproduce something that's beyond them ;)

Last I looked, this only worked for C# (possibly all CLR-based languages...) - but native C/C++ breakpoints were addressed by file and line only.

Setting up a 1-node ethereum testnet is not too hard (though it's not especially user-friendly either). I did some work with Ethereum last year, and I ran a 1-node testnet on my laptop when working on code. The node was mining constant

I've never met a C or C++ debugger that handled this case nicely, unfortunately. Totally ridiculous, of course, because they could! They just never seem to. Meeting snippets of code like that when debugging is a constant source of frus

A proper RAII object has no pre-acquisition state, hence the acronym. Such objects are always valid and ready for use. That means resource acquisition has to take place in the constructor, which means you need to report errors by throwing i
