I just use package.json scripts as entrypoints to custom JS scripts. Make is a build tool, not a meta-shellscript format; I wish its dependency tracking was unbundled into a separate tool.

So much this. Sadly, you and I are exceptions - caring about it only enough to voice our disregard for it. Usually, by the time a person is old enough to not need the churn of mass culture to be relevant to their peers, they're usually

FIX: it's actually "service as a software substitute", not the other way around. FSF could benefit from catchier nomenclature, even the "free as in blah blah" is too complex for the knee-jerk thinking cultivated in

It's a chicken-and-egg thing, methinks. When I started using the Internet in the early 00's, it was over a metered connection - but my ISP had a FTP server with content where traffic was unmetered, so people could download music a

The "user" in this scenario would be the advertiser. While I have little sympathy for ads, and dread the emergent effects of behavioral tracking, a self-deployed ad tracker could at least be trusted by the advertiser who seeks to

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well :) I've seen exactly what you're talking about, and yes - once a DAW is in the mix you have to account for the DAW's routing. Historically, audio routing is something you do with

Note that studio mics recommended in this thread, like the SM57 or the C1, need to be plugged with an XLR cable into an audio interface. Focusrite, for one, makes good USB audio interfaces - but it's still an extra device to buy and th

That's neither "fairly cheap", nor is going to sound better than buying a microphone at the same price and using free EQ and compressor plugins, nor is adding extra "warmth" the main benefit from using a compressor.
