Good! I had to ask. I’ve seen multiple Cybertrucks driving around my neighborhood and I’m pretty certain none of them will ever touch dirt. I hope you enjoy both vehicles!

A Lightning and a CyberTruck? Have either touched dirt? :)

I wonder how stock options play into this. Assuming you have generous stock options in a thriving company, wouldn’t it be worth it to stick out 3-4 years for a majority of that equity?

I agree. How are these people graduating? What does that say about our universities?

I have a friend who has interviewed about 30-40 software engineering candidates for his company (small, publicly traded company from the midwest). He said that FizzBuzz alone is enough to filter out 25% of applicants. The next slight more c

Exactly. A “dumb” phone seems to be the answer.

I feel like being fully immersed in tech makes it that much more obvious. My children barely watch TV and we plan on waiting for smart phones until as late as possible. They’ll have a flip phone once they need to call for pickups from sport

It’s not perfect, but HackerNews seems to have one of the most intelligent pool of users I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with. It’s not perfect, of course, but the discourse on a HackerNews thread is light years ahead of what you’ll fi

You can’t charge at your house? I feel like electric vehicles are great for homeowners to drive around town, but there are some hurdles to conveniently use them for cross-country trips.

If someone could make a decent AWD/4WD electric truck for <$30k, I’ll be first in line to put down a deposit.

I don’t mind paying more for a non-Chinese vehicle, but I think some of the price gouging by US companies could calm down.

The price of cars is pretty ridiculous so I’m at a point where I welcome some competition. I’d prefer to buy non-Chinese, but these companies need to remember how to make an affordable vehicle.

One complaint I have is that it feels like I have to put in almost all the work to make plans with friends and family. Also, these plans must be well in advance. My immediate family and I might decide to go to a park and I’ll text a friend

Exactly. Our tax rates were cut (very slightly) this year, but valuations are still up so the tax bill is up as well. The city acts like we should be super grateful.

It seems you are a good example of what they were talking about. Not understanding cause and effect such as using up medical resources that could otherwise be used for regular emergencies.

This is a common theme throughout life. It seems like people are wildly uncreative and just follow the crowd at every possible venture. I’ll point to the Stanley cup craze as a prime example.

I have an 2013 MacBook Pro with an Intel chip and it’s still chugging along. My wife’s basic Lenovo from 2017 has long since given up on life. It’s not an apples to apples comparison, but the longevity of my Mac has really won me over.

Say what you will about Apple, but their recent MacBooks have been solid and more affordable than their offerings a decade ago. It’s great to see the prices come down to a more reasonable level.

I’m not sure if this is entirely fair. I know people in the trades that have updated their technique and tools every few years the same way a software engineer would. They may be more resistant to change, but local building codes and such i

A major issue with housing is that it is a primary driver of wealth for many Americans. Obviously, this comes at the expense of our fellow Americans who do not own a home. I was able to buy shortly out of college (1% down loan) so rising ho

I generally agree with your reply, minus the first part. Yes, oil drops on the road where aren’t growing food, but we cannot ignore the fact that rain sweeps oil away into waterways which is awful for local wildlife. Feces washing into the

I grew up in a rural area and lived in Colorado for a while. Going home or venturing into the mountains often resulted in bad service so it just became second nature. Good observation!

Offline maps are a life saver in areas with bad coverage. One of the first things I setup for a new phone or when I’m headed somewhere new on vacation.
