Is that just the lack of a compatible DisplayLink driver? Would it be possible to support HDMI in (without HDCP)? Is that a limitation of the DL chip since there are USB monitors that support HDMI in as well. Also, on Reddit it was mention

Is it a DisplayLink 3? There doesn't seem to be an open driver for that due to hardware copy protection features.

I'm interested in the second one? Is there any way to run code on the DisplayLink-like chip? Would a dedicated CPU module with 2G+ ram be an option?

I would love to see them bring containers to the consumer OS. It would be possible to launch a base container that has it's own win32k and csrss, and another that only does UWP or .net native apps. The containers themselves might only

No intention to offend or accuse here, just two points that stuck with me from that time and which I've been curious about. To my knowledge only a few developer units were released and remained property of Palm, hence my caveat in aski

Right. By "this kind of thing" I mean code that breaks subtly like the examples in the article. I don't mean to argue with the breaking changes (versus the 1.0) in Rust which have been well thought out. Just that an accumulat

It would be good to avoid this same kind of thing in Rust, even with official versioning policies there have been many releases which change things that are "unlikely to cause issues."

Root is interesting. I want it to be able to more easily develop on the device, mount loop filesystems, etc. But I think it would be acceptable to have a container or chroot with a restricted root user and possibly shared storage accessible

Hey tire! I've been wanting to do something like that for a long time, get away from the recoveries and politics of the different factions. Make something a user can just pick up an old device, run an install process, and have a fast n

The grandparent's explanation seems correct. I think the problem stems from considering the running on server and client as the entities, rather than the representation produced on the server and reinstantiated on the client as somethi

Yeah, you basically invented the netbook a few months too early, and marketed it as an accessory when it was a full-fledged computer hardware-wise. By the way, did the GPL code used on that ever get released, assuming the demo units counted

I feel like WASM could be a first step in that, a binary AST/graph-like format with a preferred textual representation. It even has a bidirectional codec.
