I don't understand why Node-RED hasn't blown up on HN yet. Its ridiculous how powerful it is for connecting hardware, web APIs, websockets, HTTP Servers, twitter, push notifications, shell scripts, you name it. Additionally, it

Sure, there will always be some people who can afford a $200 phone, and others that can't. But for those who can, I'm amazed at how much emphasis is placed on the upfront cost of the phone itself, versus the total cost over the 2

If you make a Venn diagram in your mind, with one circle people technically savvy enough to use something like IFTTT, and the other circle people who shop at best buy, is there any overlap in that diagram?

I have a Solidoodle 3 at home, and a Makerbot Replicator 2 at work. In terms of print quality, the Makerbot is significantly better than the Solidoodle. There are certainly things I like better about the Solidoodle, such as the ability to

http://flows.nodered.org has a bunch of examples. It looks like the program is serialized to JSON, which you can open in their editor to edit graphically. Pretty cool.

The part that really irks me is the optimization for revenue that seems to occur with red light camera intersections. They are hoping that you will run the light. For instance, a north-south road has the red. The intersecting east-west ro

This seems fairly straightforward, but I am not a lawyer. The common carriage rule says a private pilot can't offer to fly people around for money. The exception to this rule is if the money is only defraying the cost of the flight. T

What really makes you happy is the experiences the stuff affords you. Movies and sports are enjoyable. staring at a nicely mounted TV that isn't showing any content is a fleeting novelty. The kitchen isn't enjoyable on its own.

I think your sentiment is true of technology and tools in general. If you have a pain point that a particular tool solves, then that tool is probably a good fit for you. But if you buy a tool because you've been sold on all of the coo

This tutorial has SPI, I2C, PWM, GPIO, ADC, and UART. Its in Python, but it almost exclusively uses the sysfs interface, so porting it to C, or the language of your choice, should be very simple. https://learn.adafruit.com/

A valuation based on an investment round is the valuation of the complete company, not just the amount invested. So if I invest $1M for 10% of a company, that "values" the company at $10M.
