In my experience Elden Ring looks better when you turn the graphics quality down. Baldur's Gate isn't particularly ugly for a '98 game. And I agree that it would be nice to have some positive examples. I think there were a bu

While I agree with you I do think that it should be noted that in the West rape happens a lot more often than shootings (even with the US throwing off the average) or arson. That being said, sexual assault isn't being brought up becaus

I think we're talking past each other. I mean something like: (macroexpand '(when-let (foo (frob bar)) (jib foo))) ;; (let ((foo (frob bar))) ;; (when foo ;; (jib foo)))

R7RS (small, at least) doesn't seem to have macro-expand. R6RS also doesn't appear to have it.

IBM Plex has CJK variants. As do Adobe's Source and Google's Noto. As I need those variants from time to time I'm not interested in fonts that don't have them.

Common Lisp, which I would consider the most modern, has convenience features which most other languages (even other Lisps) lack. CLOS, macro expansion, and, of course, the condition system.

Import taxes can affect the price of, say, yoga classes. Not direcly of course (unless maybe you're following a correspondence/video course from India where you need to buy imported tapes), but you can think of it like this: The p

I may have had my misgivings about the man (especially his attitude towards his successor), but I shan't deny the influence he had on the music I love. Rest in peace, mr. Osbourne.

I will say it's funny seeing a post which starts off calling someone a 'woke cretin' ending with a lightly veiled take-that at Musk. I think it may be better to say that the author has an agenda or is co-opting real issues, b

Funny that, because I really like the borrow checker. In my opinion Rust only has 2 problems: 1. The culture of licensing stuff under MIT by default rather than (A)GPL. 2. The syntax. I'd much rather have S-expressions.

I'm one of those Software Freedom nerds and I hated my experience with OSX Yosemite on an iMac back in 2016, so I can't really empathise, but I suppose you could always just give it a try and keep your older machine and if the Mac

Many driver issues can be avoided with proper HW selection, but even if you go with a dedicated GNU/Linux vendor you can still have some. For example on my Slimbook Elemental 15 I have issues with both the keyboard backlight and the 3.
