Good question, thanks. I think I was conflating both -- but I think both apply. The benefit of is-a hierarchies -- perhaps the only big benefit (to be weighed against all the other alternatives available) -- is that it solves for making the

Class hierarchies are easily fragile, easily do not model things correctly over time. The cruft, the lack of DRY as the mapping between what is being modeled and what is represented in the code -- accumulates with class hierarchies for sure

I think curiously what this would encourage is a slower way of thinking. I.e., not quick comments, but longer, more thoughtful ones. I don't comment much, but when I do think back on the comments I have made that have been somewhat pop

The introvert's dilemma. Because while I exactly agree (and while that's always cool with Paul B!), I think ESR factored into git indirectly in a way. Provided part of the impetus to want to rewrite things. Think about it: maybe t

You need a law or a bill. And then the protest (and ensuing momentum if companies are incentivized to blackout their sites because it's strongly in their interests) pushes the lever for lawmakers.

I was talking to a colleague about how Dwolla implements a similar pay network. I don't know Square's implementation. It varies with different P2P providers. Some create their own 'rails' in the backend (PopMoney, etc.).
