These are some really good suggestions. I think a "syntax for lifetimes on places" (2) is really neat and would make lifetimes much easier to reason about, by removing the indirection and being explicit about where the borrow is f

It's good that Apple have decided to improve their offering for password management but a bit overdue and lacking in cross-platform support. Also, it's risky to allow large corporations control over our most sensitive information.

Hi @caseyohara, You might want to try our modern, open-source, cross-platform alternative[1] The self hosted server v1 will land in the next few weeks. [1] https://saveoursecrets.com

Thanks for clarifying, that makes sense. I have a hybrid dart/rust app, so not much java code in there to profile. Neat idea to record video along with the profiling trace and wish you success.

Looks very neat and the website is polished too, good job. I assume this would work for Flutter apps too but I would need to run using Android Studio instead of the flutter CLI - is that correct?

This looks great and the pricing is obviously a big improvement, I will try it out for our Linux jobs. Sure would be good to see competition for the MacOS and Windows runners too, these are the ones that tend to cost us the most.

I am interested in this type of app but on mobile a lot of the website content is cut off, I respectfully suggest you check your site design on smaller devices, I found the cropped content off-putting.

A lot of comments here but I have still never seen people talk about the absolutely perfect use case for a block chain. Mandate that all government spending use a block chain so that all citizens can see government spending. All public fina

Got to disagree here, a typical use case based on my experience is a parser holding a &str as well as an AST that does zero-copy references into the string.

Exactly, thanks for highlighting this, it always really irked me about the gettext design that they were tightly coupled to the source translations.

I have used this and it is a welcome advance on the older techniques such as gettext. Just be aware that not all the implementations have all the functionality, for example, i learnt the rust implementation does not yet support the date

I had a go at this a while ago, uses the markdown AST to build a program descriptor: https://github.com/mkdoc/mkcli I think docopt is a better choice as it has more traction but this experiment showed me a pure markdow

To clarify here, this is just public key cryptography using ECDSA signing keys to verify an identity. Whilst it is blockchain-adjacent it does not use a blockchain for identity verification, it just checks the owner has access to a particul

I took it for a spin and got a Golang panic every time i tried to deploy a container. Not a good impression of the service. I think some of their engineers are excellent and will check back again in a few years to see if it is stable.

This is fantastic! My only nitpick would be that the `time` crate is now fully featured and can be a drop in replacement for `chrono`. It also seems to be more actively maintained than `chrono`; i would recommend preferring `time` for new p

I did this as my project to learn Rust, to build with all the features needed for a good static site generator was a great way to learn! I still haven't released it as there are some bugs (localization!) that i need to fix but if you w

I think you are right about this with the one huge problem from my point of view being the text rendering on Windows. This is of course a problem with the Webview implementation on Windows but it is so awful it makes me want to use somethin

Having worked in the localization space over a decade ago when gettext was still the industry standard I was pleased recently to use Fluent which I think is a better more modern approach: https://projectfluent.org/ Worked w

Whilst the trust model is not perfect and a reputation based model with signed audits would represent an improvement I welcome this as progress in preventing supply-chain attacks. A worthwhile effort in my opinion.

Oh, this is great to hear, no longer need to rely on crossbeam for scoped threads. Whilst i can imagine this is useful in a variety of situations, it is particularly useful when trying to merge async and synchronous code which can sometimes

Whilst i like the sentiment being a massive fan of minimalism i don't understand why Markdown to HTML with an ultra-simple stylesheet would not be a better solution. Trivial to strip Markdown to plain text and easy to convert to HTML,

I disagree with all the points in the article with the exception of lifetimes which i do find cumbersome at times due to the way they have to be propagated which makes refactoring to references awkward. I think the larger standard library o

Arrow functions replace the need to use `bind` and you can still use `with` just not in strict mode unfortunately.
