This is really interesting. A great tool to search geocoded tweets is the MapD Tweetmap http://www.mapd.com/demos/tweetmap (full disclosure, my company). For example, here ( http://bit.ly/1KIPSqh ) are t

This is a great intro into the subject. We use LLVM to at MapD ( http://mapd.com ) to compile SQL queries to CPU and GPU machine code - it has given us a major boost over an interpreter based approach. For more see here - http:&#

Hi, one of the original authors here. You're confusing rows per second with bytes per second. We're measuring here in rows per second, with random data that takes four bytes per record. So the group-by is showing around 24 GB&#x

You might try out http://mapd.csail.mit.edu - it uses GPUs to run the queries in real time - there are 80 million tweets now but we're doing a billion for a demo with Nvidia. Here is a link to a heatmap of the f-bomb with a

Is your data relational? I can import anything from Postgres, MySQL, Solr (but has to be flattened), or shapefiles. If you tell me more perhaps I could put it into the system for you and we could try it out.

Thanks! Yeah I'd like to revisit this benchmark soon (I'm actually working on rendering choropleths on the GPU now). I'm working on a database paper that will hopefully be ready for VLDB submission by next month - that would probably be th

Hi - MapD creator - I love Postgres/PostGIS and use them all the time - there are just some things that are going to execute fast in parallel with high-memory bandwidth. And then there is the algorithm - see my post above for an explanatio

Hi all, MapD creator here - I'd be happy to answer any questions. The 700K figure was done by rendering polygon files to textures and using them as lookup tables - it ran pretty fast on the CPU so its not all the GPU there. However if a p
