I sincerely believe that one of the fundamental problems of our time is individuals' sense of entitlement. That is, 'if it is is possible, there are no laws against it, I can afford it, and I want to do it, then I will'. Cons

My one and only experience with booking.com was around 10 years ago. I made a last minute late night booking, only to turn up and be told the room wasn't available. This was followed by a week of wrangling with booking.com to get the r

The prices might seem fair to each, until they learn what the other was charged. At that point the sellers likely pays a price in terms of reputation.

It's essentially predatory behaviour, exploiting those in need. I think anyone arguing in favour of 'pure' market outcomes is essentially arguing in favour of unethical behaviour.

I'm sure people will disagree on the significance, but I think it seems obvious that a society that encourages (and in some cases requires) its members to isolate themselves in mobile metal boxes is going to be more antisocial than one

Is that index inflation adjusted? The chart looks very similar to the non-inflation adjusted price history for NZ ( https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/QNZN628BIS ). The inflation adjusted NZ chart for comparison: https:

Important to remember the process of privitisation that occurred and the opportunities for profiteering that the new complexity allowed. Yanis Varoufakis discusses it at length here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3bo-s_OY

This makes some sense from a state's perspective. As an individual I am more concerned about the spying that is effectively hostile to me personally. As a Westerner, I am fairly certain that this will be Western spying. I would expect

Land. Total value of it is about 25 trillion in the US alone I believe. If I'm not wrong, globally stock markets are around 100 trillion (and that will include a lot of assets in the form of land).

Money is obviously a poor proxy for value. A bottle of water might be the same price as a litre of petrol, but the value is vastly different. We don't pay for the value. We pay for the cost of acquisition (e.g. pumping the oil out of t
