The nextjs one uses a third party (bigcommerce) as the back end. Firebase is also a third party backend. Any recommendations on one where you can own the backend yourself, like Django? Without composing all the pieces manually? I'm cur

I've had the same number of issues over the last few years with Netlify and Cloudflare. With Netlify I was able to rehost easily, with Cloudflare, I was screwed because they were the DNS provider as well and changing nameservers is slo

If it's not hard to deploy on your server, then it's also easy to switch when you have to. In the meantime you get faster, free hosting, better builds and spend zero time on ops.

I didn't see €88k in the video... but I did find it on Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/Molten-Salt-Loop-40-Liter/dp/B077782Y... $88,000 + $4.49 shipping.

Yes, I would think static linking would lead to higher disk usage for binaries. That analysis doesn't really answer the question re: disk usage and doesn't really quantify how much sharing there is from shared libraries, just how

Wow that thing is ridiculous. I wonder what kind of power draw it takes under use. Probably over 100W!

I don't think this counts. The developer transition kit machines didn't support virtualization, aiui.

I'd love to see some kind of indication that a car is in autonomous mode. That would let others adjust their expectations. Especially cops, it could be legal to be asleep/drunk if the car is autonomous! That being said, it would b

You can add your certificates and keys to k8s secrets or docker secrets, then they will appear as files within the container. Adding the certificates into the image... don't do that :)

There is a practical limit on how many arguments can be passed to a spread parameter. I tested at 125k in Chrome just now. That's probably a couple orders magnitude more than a typical web page, let alone one parent node, but maybe tha

Funny, I was just doing some feature flag cleanup. The article makes good points, but I think I'll just clean up once a year or so and not worry too much about adding the flags :)

Epic didn't remove IAP... they advertised a lower price elsewhere, which is against guidelines (which is not a contract), and did so via an unreviewed update. Note that updates via webview or JS code are explicitly allowed by contracts

They broke a guideline on purpose. Apple responded by removing from the app store. That's normal. Apple's other actions are just retaliatory: threatening the unreal engine, terminating developer accounts from affiliates, and yanki

I felt the same when I skimmed the article, especially after seeing the "Signifier, version 1". But the actual version has sharp edges, echoing the "rigid geometric style" that characterizes brutalist architecture.

I don't get why "if [the diameter] is an order of magnitude larger, the structure won't hold together when it spins". The centripetal force is the same, 9.8N/kg, so it's kg / m^2 that matters. Right? Wikip
