I think the developer spends more time working on PCalc, and even then, I think the iOS version gets the most attention. I last used DragThing back in the OS 9 days. With the OS X dock, it didn't seem as necessary. Couple that with Lau

I stopped using Macports for two reasons. First, it was taking a long time for some of the ports to get up to date. That doesn't seem to be a problem now, but it was. The second reason is that it insists on using its own versions of to

A fee based on viewership counts is how the anime service Crunchyroll works. A portion (the other part is Crunchyroll's) of the ad revenue and subscription fees are split based on what you watch. So, if you only watched a single show f

Considering that if compiled into a .app it should require Gatekeeper (AppleScript does), it's not a big worry. If it's not compiled, you can easily view the source.

Well, AppleScript is well documented. See Apple's Developer Site, https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/AppleS... But, that's just AppleScript. The problem is that the scripting dict

For my Master's thesis, I couldn't get satisfactory results with a genetic algorithm, even after spending quite some time tweaking the parameters from the default. But, with the default parameters of the simulated annealing code,

I used simulated annealing for my Master's thesis. I was trying to fit a differential equation to some experimental results. With small changes in the parameters, you could get huge changes in the solution of the DE. For some of the ex

Many of the problems of AppleScript come from inconsistent scripting support from the applications. A command in one application will work subtly different in another one. Unfortunately, this problem will continue with Javascript. Back in t

I'm a SymPy developer, but I'd probably pay $15/year just to test different things so I could compare results. I won't pay $15/month, though. Especially since other developers have access to it, mainly through their

There's a couple of other things you can do. Since those are Python integers, you can specify a SymPy Integer instead with Integer(1)/7 instead. The other thing you can do is S(1)/7. Both of these should work.

SymPy doesn't appear in IPython, but IPython is aware of SymPy if it's installed so you can get nice printing of math in the notebook. Also, why link to the Wikipedia page for IPython and not the homepage? For most people, I'

As a standalone CAS, Maxima is more fully featured than SymPy. But, it's harder to use with other packages. With SymPy, you can do your work with the CAS and then use the results with NumPy, SciPy, or Theano.

I highly recommend looking at the comparison of the two mentioned in response to this. It's a bit out of date, though. It has a reference to SymPy 0.7.2 upcoming, but it's already past that. Basically, Sage is more comprehensive a

Swift can call Objective-C APIs, so if you're building Mac or iOS apps, you'll get access to the full Cocoa API. You can't build iOS apps in Scala (as far as I know) and I've never been a fan of Java GUIs.
