I wish they would fix their support for special characters (e.g., |) in file names. I routinely save bookmarks to a directory stored on a OneDrive volume and I have to go and clean up the names in order for them to sync. I'm not motiva

I recall reading that Mirtich paper when I was doing my undergrad project. I still have a paper copy somewhere. You're definitely right in that there's really no excuse for not having proper inertia tensors. Given that paper is fr

They've definitely been fixed in 1Password. I think they were fixed in the next version after the paper. They've discussed it pretty openly on their blog, but it was shortly after the paper was released and that's been a few

My university switched to DesireToLearn's software. It was terrible, especially when I was trying to enter grades. It was simpler and faster to export the grades, bring them into Excel, make the changes and then upload the new grades r

The problem is that it's still a pain to type complex formulas in MathCAD. So, it's not really suitable for when you're trying write out equations live.

I know a bunch of people who prefer chalk because of the dust from whiteboard markers. They found it more of a pain than chalk dust. At least it cleans up pretty easily.

That paper is pretty old now. If I remember right, it covered 1Password version 2. It's at version 5 now and it handles things different from before.

I live in Canada and my measuring cup is 250ml and so is my mother's. I think it's the standard here now. I've seen 284ml, but that's only on older ones.

One of my favourite professors in the department was a prof who had a review on RateMyProfessors.ca as "I'd say she worships Satan, but I think Satan worships her." She was a tough but fair prof and generally only got respect

I had this basic system in high school, although it was semesters. You had to make sure that the courses you wanted were available, made more difficult for me because I decided to finish a 5 year program in 4 years (we went up to grade 13 b

There's one professor I was a TA for who was loved by the students. He taught the course more like a high school physics course than a university course. But, when his students got to higher level physics courses, they were lacking in

Even if we don't know exactly where Pluto is, we do know enough about orbital mechanics to have a very good idea of where it will be. Plus, they would run simulations of the solar system to take into account the fluctuations due to gra

The orbital mechanics math is fairly well understood so we know when planets will be in specific locations so it works out to be a more complex version of an orbital transfer. http://www.bogan.ca/orbits/transfer/Ea

I love the Lynda.com videos on Swift and iOS. The latest Stanford iOS course uses Swift and is excellent.

It looks like you're looking at an earlier version of Swift at least based on the fact that you're talking about Xcode 6.1 at the start. If you're covering 1.2, you probably should update that.

Yes it was. I think the main difference this time will be integration with Twitter and Facebook. If the artists know that what they post on it can show up in Facebook and/or Twitter they'd be more likely to use it. We'll see.

Bands like Arcade Fire got big because of radio DJs. Zane Lowe at least tries to discover new artists. I'm sure the other DJs will be similar.
