No experience of my own, as I am German, but there are idiots everywhere, including Germany. Before I start, I let me emphasize that I do not condone what I am going to describe, I am just describing it from my perspective. I think it'

It’s been a while since I played Titanfall, but I remember it as mostly ground-based FPS. This video gives you an impression of Tribes 2 fights: https://youtu.be/Kj6K_d6Zsuw There were also other roles you can’t see in the

Stations had a super-simple UI. You just start the app and the music starts. Only a single swipe was needed to change the station. It was perfect, especially in the car. The Spotify app is a mess. My stations are supposed to be in there, bu

They have also shut down Spotify Stations this week :( It was the best alternative for Pandora, which still isn't available in Europe.

All these costs are capped and not that important for higher salaries. Health insurance is only paid for the first 58k. The state pension, unemployment insurance etc do not increase for salaries over 85k. I would expect a good benefits pack

Cost of living in the US is weird. When I am in the US, I don't feel poor as long as I do what 'regular Europeans' are doing. I could go to Whole Foods and pay a small fortune for bread, but as long as I go to Aldi prices are

It also makes us Europeans feel underpaid :) I have 20 years of experience and don't even make six figures. $350000 base pay sounds like a different world.

I think people wearing masks for privacy are a very small minority. This is the first time I heard that. People I know just feel uneasy not to wear them, especially indoors, either thinking it will protect them or feel that it's the ri

Germany is currently a good testing ground for mask effectiveness. At the beginning of this month, the mask mandate has been dropped in most states, with some exceptions like public transport and hospitals. However, Mecklenburg Vorpommern a

The 6am data point shows you that simple overprovisioning is not sufficient. DE would have needed about 500 GW wind capacity to replace fossil fuels at 6am. At least without having any other backup.

"overprovisioning goes a far way already" Overprovisioning by how much? The installed capacity is over 60GW for wind and a bit under 60 GW for solar. This morning at 6 am, wind produced 3.9GW (6% of capacity) and solar 0.6GW (1%).

I think Unikernels like NanoVMs ( https://nanos.org/ ) will become more important. They are more efficient and more secure than than full operating systems. Right now, I think there are no good monitoring solutions available

These rates are somewhat useful if you have a flexible fossil backup, as wind and solar are not always available. If you are going 100% wind and solar, you need to factor in the cost of energy storage as well as efficiency of storage. Then
