Trivia: ebay.com was named after Echo Bay, a Canadian consulting firm, which in turn was named after the township. Echobay.com was taken, the rest is history.

I'd say judging by the way this is handled that it comes down on the side of 'definitely to Stripe in Canada'.

Welcome to the cloud, where your personal data is no longer personal. Microsoft may have made a mistake doing this, it may look like a relatively small issue but they have taken on the burden of being responsible for the data stored on thei

You make it out as if appearing like a salesman is a bad thing. Why not be proud of what you're good at? This product is all about sales, it's aimed squarely at the HN demographic and the page does a fantastic job of proving that Patrick

For someone who isn't comfortable selling on HN you're doing a stellar job of it! Telling people that you don't want their money is a great strategy.

You may be better of with a re-launch under a different brand recycling the tech. Re-establishing a reputation once it has been dented this badly may be more work than starting afresh.

Selling shovels during a goldrush is a great way to make money! Patrick is sure to rake it in with this one, and with the 'money back guarantee' you really can't go wrong. HN is the perfect target demographic for this product.

Just banned from doing it? That's way too mild. Those employer that were caught doing this should be fined and/or disbanded. If they think they have the right to ask for social media passwords what other rights do they think they have? This

Part of the reason may be that NASA has been crying wolf before. The 'arsenic life' announcement wasn't that long in the past. So people may be a bit wary until the images have been independently analysed.

It probably isn't the intention but that will serve as a validation of wikileaks in the eyes of quite a few people.

No, perhaps not. There is no visual difference between a well made prototype and a zero-batch machine or even a production item. But there is a huge difference in the amount of work that needs to be done to get from the one to the other. So

From prototype to product is a (sometimes very) long road, I find it a bit strange that someone would say 'don't buy 'x' where 'x' is available today because there exists a prototype from a company that has not yet shipped in volume. Maybe
