The comment claims Safari, an app, has exclusive access to system features, my comment shows how other apps have access to the same features. The web has nothing to do with it.

It’s incredible. Apple causes a big bank to lose money because they introduce a product where they can’t use their typical money grabbing tricks like extortionate fees and interest. How does this site, where the commenters always pretend to

You don’t understand because you’re blowing this way out of proportion. Most people can use the keyboard just fine with no problems at all and it keeps improving. Nobody is ‘crippling’ anything and nothing is ‘awful’. It’s okay, it’s good e

This only works with OTP codes formatted in a specified way so the system can make sure it’s only suggesting OTP codes and only on the website they are intended for. https://wicg.github.io/sms-one-time-codes/

No, it’s documented API. It’s either because it doesn’t actually work as documented, or because the other applications’ developers are lazy. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/password_...

They can count the number of downloads and the number of requests to the update servers. Or they can just not count the people that disable telemetry.

But I don’t doubt the consent form told the user to get the consent of everyone in the house. But hey, mister sour grapes from the article now ‘doesn’t think he consented’ but doesn’t want to show the consent form. If this ever goes to cour

That’s account lockouts, it doesn’t work against bots because they can just try a million accounts instead of a million passwords on one account and it makes it super easy to do a denial of service on an account, and it doesn’t prevent a de

If you want a computer that does exactly what you want the way you think you want it, clearly you should not get a Mac.

You are prepared to fight the system, while you don’t know why it is doing what it is doing and what you are gaining by fighting. Your arguments are mostly ‘I’m used to Windows doing X so that’s what I want on the Mac.’ If you want Windows,

It’s great that you were lucky, others are not. And it’s not a big deal, it’s a fact of life. Except when it’s a Tesla, of course.

In contrast, many of the behaviors are better on the Mac, but they do take some getting used to. The reason Apple doesn’t ‘just add a preference’ is that that would prevent people from getting over that little hurdle of getting used to it.

Of course the idea is that you would only quit applications automatically if it starts quickly, you shouldn’t automatically quit Photoshop.

In other news, no car has ever seized up and stopped at an inconvenient moment before Tesla made this horrible mistake, and keeping a safe distance would not be necessary if it weren’t for those dang automated drivers. Now get off my lawn!

If you block all logins for 5 seconds after a bot attempts to login, and the bot attempts to login 50 times per second, no one will be able to login.

So now in the case of a bot attack no one can login. That doesn’t work.

Apps can’t run unsigned code on iOS, everything has to be in the bundle submitted for review. That’s why you can’t have a third party JIT compiler.

It’s not easy to tell two login attempts are from one bot. This kind of workaround unfortunately doesn’t work in practice. Otherwise of course this whole problem wouldn’t exist.

How many megabits per second were you getting on that PSTN line? Or is this just some generic ‘the rent is too damn high’ tangent?
