If you want to complain, complain about Meta abusing recovery mechanisms for spam. The rest just doesn’t work; the accounts get hacked using the recovery mechanism because the email accounts get hacked or expire and they get used for spam.

At least on all the commercial platforms you can now say that specific apps don’t have access to the microphone so this is a fixed problem.

Both sides are reasonable, a common form of spam uses hacked accounts that have grown organically, the normal way, and have then been abandoned. Because they have been used the normal way they are ranked higher than accounts created by bots

Is this statement about the license fact or theory? If you deliver GPL software you have to release everything for redistribution.

You can just change the ‘suppress @everyone’ setting for a server to avoid getting notified.

It’s because ‘on penalty of perjury’ doesn’t actually mean anything, it is not enforced. There are no consequences so there is no responsibility.

If a website uses local storage and submits tokens somewhere, the ad network only knows what a user does on that site, not all over the internet and it doesn’t know it’s you when it’s time to pick an ad.

Isn’t it like all these alternative distributions have to do is buy one license for RHEL and get the sources RedHat uses?

> Another hint If you quote only half of the sentence, it suddenly means something else! When used to attack it’s a variation of the venerable ‘straw man’ debate technique. Nice if Mr Siebenmann made insightful comments on a Usenet group

Great! Perhaps one day all ARM64 systems will be ‘system ready’ uefi hardware, just like pretty much all x64 systems are PC systems. But today is not that day and that is why the author of the blog post is running into these problems.

Running ‘configure && make && make install’ is hardly a technical skill. Acquiring binaries built elsewhere is fine and saying someone doesn’t qualify if they do that is gatekeeping.

That is correct, it is ‘user6723’ who is talking about that and I was responding to that user. But nevertheless the blog appears to be by someone who doesn’t have much of a clue regarding the subject matter, the arguments are rather confuse

One does not. If an image is created, it is copyrighted automatically. But copyright is not what this article is about. It’s about trademarks.

Even though the blog appears to be by someone who doesn’t have much of a clue, this is gatekeeping. Just like in the Unix world of old before the rise of open source, many system administrators never compile any binary. And that is fine.

The difference is not mainly about CPU architecture, it’s about the standardized PC architecture vs ARM computers where you need to build a new distribution for every model. You can easily build a kernel that will run on any PC built in the

Then clearly the only remaining option is to leave. The company doesn’t want them to keep working for free on the old terms, only on the new terms. We’ll see if they are so irreplaceable as they claim.

I presume these people have never had a job, where there just is someone else who decides what they are going to do and how they are going to do it. If they did they would see they signed up for a job but with no pay. The community sees ‘th

You can also use a ton of small leds for the backlight, like the display Apple calls the ‘Liquid Retina XDR’ display and there’s probably a world of controller software to improve on for years.

Apple would say they don’t like hamburger menus. If the app is designed contrary to the guidelines (which say avoid hamburger menus) and tries to fight the system, unsurprisingly it’s not going to work well with the system.
